If you had bothered to read the posts in this thread, you would have known that all the lyrics to all the songs are already posted in here. And we also already know the song titles and what order they appear in on the cd. Doesn't anybody read anymore??

You do realize that this thread is 40 pages long, right? 600 posts is quite a few to "bother to read".

However, I would advise anyone with spoiler information to just ask if we already know about it? Like "Hey I found the tracklist and lyrics. Have you seen these?" Then we can ask to see whatever you found, or let you know that we've already seen it.

Jumping down a newbie's throat just because he didn't read a 40 page thread doesn't really promote a healthy community. It just drives people off.

Ok, point taken, but I really don't think my post was all that mean-spirited, I just stated basically that that info is already in this thread. And you don't have to go 40 pages back to see the lyrics that are posted. If I came off sounding mean, I'm sorry.

Okay, back on topic:

If you thought "Jerry Springer" or "Couch Potato" are hard to sing along to, "Hardware Store" takes the cake. This part here:

They've got allen wrenches, gerbil feeders, toilet seats, electric heaters
Trash compactors, juice extractors, shower rods and water meters
Walkie-talkies, copper wires, safety goggles, radial tires
BB pellets, rubber mallets, fans and dehumidifiers
Picture hangers, paper cutters, waffle irons, window shutters
Paint removers, window louvres, masking tape and plastic gutters
Kitchen faucets, folding tables, weather stripping, jumper cables
Hooks and tackle, grout and spackle, power foggers, spoons and ladles
Pesticides for fumigation, high-performance lubrication
Metal roofing, waterproofing, multi-purpose insulation
Air compressors, brass connectors, wrecking chisels, smoke detectors
Tire gauges, hamster cages, thermostats and bug deflectors
Trailer hitch demagnetizers, automatic circumcisers
Tennis rackets, angle brackets, Duracells and Energizers
Soffit panels, circuit breakers, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers
Calculators, generators, matching salt and pepper shakers

AL sings all that without any real pause in only 30 seconds.

Re: Hey all!

I'm not sure where to post this, but this seems like the right thread, and since I've been following it for weeks, I'll post it here. First off, I am buying the album on Tuesday (My collection needs to be complete!!), even though I have downloaded it Sat night/Sunday morning and listened to it. My opinions? At first, I had 4 years of waiting and expectations being overbearing on each song, but I sat down, and followed along with the lyrics posted here and listened to every song, and I have to say I really enjoyed the album. It seems a lot more mellow in some respects, but then again there's a few songs that are kinda fast too. It's *almost* like he's adopted a different style to singing, but I do like the album, and I suspect it will grow on me with even more listens. He NAILED every parody, which is awesome, and the polka is just as cool as ever. I guess the only songs that seemed out of place for me were "Bob" and "Genius In France" because Bob is the palendrome(sp?) song that sounds a lot like Bob Dylan, and doesn't necessarily make sense (neither did Bob Dylan :P), so it's a little hard to follow so far after a couple listens. But, it's amazing to look at the lyrics and see how every line is mirrored. That's just talent! And as for "Genius In France", I've never paid attention to Frank Zappa or his music, so I might be missing out on some of the background humour, but the song in itself is not bad. In fact I like how it's packed with lyrics to fill the 9 minutes, and not just a lot of guitar or drum solos.

I guess what I mean by the album is more mellow is... well, it has a more subdued feel in a way, I can't seem to explain myself. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it just feels a lot different than RWS. But maybe that's a good thing, because it has been 4 years! But for the most part he seems just as happy and weird as usual, and I've only had 3 listens thru so I will reserve a rating, but right now I would give it an 7.5-8!! I think it's a great album, and like I said , the parodies are top notch, and my favorite original is "Why Does This Always Happen To Me?". I haven't quite latched onto "Party At The Leper Colony" yet, because I thought it was going to be rather gory like "The Night Santa Went Crazy", and the song is bizarilly (sp?) countryesque/elvis/old style rock and roll, and I was hoping for tradition Al voice when he's not doing parodies. BUT, this is entirely my opinion and hey, Weird Al is my favourite singer/band ever, and like I said, I love this album, I'm just trying to be objective. Anyways, I've taken up enough of your time all, but thanks for reading, and I'll be in line with you all when I get my Poodle Hat.
Haha. Although it is spoiler topic, could anyone of you be so nice and tell me what to do with Poodle Hat? What should I wait from it, for cryin' out loud? OK, you've read what Weird Chris Farlyfan posted, so see here:
ahem... the album's done...
Al is very proud and happy with the album, and I think it represents everyone's best work.

So, what are you gonna say about that? Please, don't leave me with mixed feelings!

I think you should get yourself a copy! I've only heard two songs, but they are both GREAT! And from what I've read on the other songs, they look to be pretty good, too. Al has never disappointed me in the 20+ years I've been a fan. Get the cd and judge for yourself whether you like it or not. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. I'm expecting greatness! It's Al, after all!

I'm a little disappointed that most of the bonus mixes will be instrumental. I listen to Al for the lyrics! I love the idea of a vocals-only mix though.

Vice versa!!! :onfire: I admire Al for his decision to do instrumental versions, I still cannot believe Al did it! Once again, Al broke the grounds! Yay!!! :onfire:

I think it's great that he did instrumentals, too, Seva! That means once I've learned the songs and can sing them, I can do a karaoke kinda thing! I have some instrumental versions of "Since You've Been Gone" and "Dare to Be Stupid" that I LOVE singing along with! It's fun! This is going to be so great! :)

Yeah, after all, you're right, as usually. :) But see, when I heard that there will be a "Lose Yourself" parody called "Couch Potato", I was a little bit disappointed (we had couch potatoes in "UHF"), but when I learned more about this song, when I found out that it would be a very sharp and witty commentary on America's obsession with television, I changed my mind. And, without any doubt, this time his originals will be even more excellent than they usually are.

But still I think it will be not "Couch Potato" to get more knowledge of Al on the other side of the ocean - for example, English is not so popular in Russia, and even those people who study English don't know the expression "couch potato" (still, I know what it means... and my friend Bob does... and a few folks also...). I still consider "Fat" is the best weapon to target not-Al related foreigners, English is not necessarily here, when you're watching a video, though lyrics are PERFECT.

Waiting for tomorrow!!!!!!!! :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :onfire:

Does anyone else think (and again, I have NOT heard the album) that this sounds like something Phish would do?

I can see it, personally.

Yes....A whole new album and 3 new doses of Ben Folds to boot! Even if it is the same song, it's all good!
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?
