I don't think it's a rip-off. As Catra said, this idea isn't new. It's been used over and over and over and over and over and over again.

that is so true. I saw a movie on the IMDb called Santa Claus Conquers the Martians or something like that. it was in the bottom 100 as well

Santa was actually good ol' normal good-guy Santa in that one. Although granted the idea of putting Santa into a spaceship's airlock room and attempt to suck him out into the cosmos may be pretty evil, Santa was only the potential victim.

If you want to see a slightly more meddlesome Santa, there's the traditional Mexican kids movie "Santa Claus," in which ol' Kris fights a devil, terrorizes three little boys, and spikes a couple's drinks.
