I dont really see Al playing anyone from that era, though I would love to see it, because it would be one way to have Al immortalized with Philadelphia.

I gotta tell you though... I've seen all the episodes of American Dreams for the past two years, and one of the show's biggest problems is that the writers have no concept of historical accuracy. For a show that's supposed to take place in 1963-1965 Philadelphia, the characters are surprisingly cognizant of future events, making reference to "this might happen someday" - artists appear on the faux American Bandstand stage with songs that won't be written for another year or two years; and the litany of "guest stars" appearing as 1960's icons has been almost laughable (Nick Lachay as Tom Jones?
Jennifer Love Hewitt as Nancy Sinatra?
Hilary Duff as one of the Shangri-Las?
).
In fact, I've posted reviews of American Dreams episodes in the AD yahoogroup and at rec.arts.tv, so there's no need to rehash them in WOWAY.
That being said, if Al were to appear on the show as a performer, it might make more sense for him to appear as Tiny Tim (although the show's timeline would have to run to 1967 or 1968). Interestingly, for those who mentioned Art Garfunkel as a possible role for Al to play, the REAL Art Garfunkel appeared in a few episodes in AD's first season (he played Mr. Greenwood, the record store owner).

Yeah, I've noticed the historical errors, but I don't really watch it for them. I just like the basic concept of this is how a family made it through the 60's, with the racial issues, the introduction of color TV, wemon gaining rights, vietnam, the strict father who fought in World War II, everything! Though, my favorite one was the introduction of Kiwi.
I've noticed the historical errors, but that's not why I watch the show anyway. I watch it because it's the basic concept of the 60's.
