Yesterday a friend called me and told me that TvDanmark 1 was sending "Vidioten", a Danish title for UHF ("The Vidiot"). Unfortunately I was at my dad and he hasn't got cable tv, so I couldn't watch the ending. Later I checked the program list for March 18th and it was aired at 15.00 (3PM) and ended at 16.45 (4:45PM) after a lot of commercial breaks. Here's some info about it from the webpage:
3-Forestillingen: Vidioten
Amr. komedie fra 1989
(UHF)

Medv.: George Newman: ”Weird Al” Yankovic. Stanley Spadowski: Michael Richards. R. J. Fletcher: Kevin McCarthy. Bob: David Bowe. Teri: Victoria Jackson. Onkel Harvey: Stanley Brock. Philo: Anthony Geary.
Instr.: Jay Levey.
Quickly and directly translated:
The 3-Performance: The Vidiot
American comedy from 1989
(UHF)

The Videot is the satiristic musician "Weird Al" Yankovic's (known for his Michael Jackson-parodies) film début and it casts a parodic glance on an amateurlike local TV-station and the truly odd programs it sends out in the airwaves.

George Newman and his buddy Bob get fired from their jobs at the fastfood restaurant Burger World and George decides to take over the operations of Channel 62, a bankrupt local TV-station which his uncle Harvey has won in a poker game. In a short time George turns the evolution of the TV-station and transforms it into a hit, among other things letting the everything-imaginable-man Stanley Spadowski be host in a children program. And George invents a line of new programs, the second more bizarre than the first and the audience raises towards the sky. The Channel's unexpected success doesn't go unnoticed past the rival Channel 8 where the boss manager R. J. Fletcher plans to sabotage the rival's progress. George must therefore rapidly think of a rescue plan.

Contributory: George Newman: ”Weird Al” Yankovic. Stanley Spadowski: Michael Richards. R. J. Fletcher: Kevin McCarthy. Bob: David Bowe. Teri: Victoria Jackson. Uncle Harvey: Stanley Brock. Philo: Anthony Geary.
Director: Jay Levey.

Thank you, Karmus! Jay Levey was the director, not the instructor, but otherwise the film description is great. It sounds kind of poetic, in fact. "The audience raises toward the sky!" Well, of course! :)
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Could we merge this with the UHF Reviews topic?

Heh, I was not writing this. I just translated what I found on the website so it's their fault.
Wow, thanks for all those nice replies! ;) I just did it in one quarter.
EDIT: You were right! I looked it up in my dictionary and it said "instructor", but... there was a special mark: film/theater = "director". Sorry. :whoot:

I think it had Danish subtitles. That's usual for movies. In Germany they voice syncronize and dub everything. Even the Danish movie "Min Søsters Børn" (German: "Sommer mit Onkel Erik") has been 'Germanized' except the background music in some scenes.
HEY, have you been to that Spanish Messenger site? (Reg. your avatar) Hehe, I have one too!
