He's doing this place again...in just under a year. Kinda surprising, probably the concert bookees being new..might not have realized that he just played here or it was just such a great show and venue, they HAD to come back.

Hes done many venues over and over again. Its my local, but I have to refer to it, the Keswick he did twice in the span of 10 weeks on the SOL tour. And the OC fair he plays pretty much yearly. Westbury Music Fair is another one he does almost every year. Shall I go on?

I was not a fan of this venue, but I might try to go.

Bought 2 tickets to this. Last fall's Al concert was the first time I'd been to this venue, and I liked it. I like indoor concerts where drinks are served, and the sound seemed fine.

Very disappointed that I'll probably be living in a tent near Bakersfield that weekend.

Oops, I was going to post afterward and... well, never mind.

I did go to this. Met with Carlotta, Julie, Vikki, Vikki's aunt, Peggy and Tina beforehand for dinner. I actually managed to score a front-row aisle seat for this one! Lucky consequence of procrastinating until some VIP seats were released, I think. I wound up sitting next to a family who are friends with Jim's friend (and sometime sub-in guitarist) Danny Brant. It was the first Weird Al show for all of them, and the first concert of any kind for their son, except for his dad's concerts. His dad's concerts? I asked: Dad had a recent four-year stint playing guitar for the Woodstock-era blues band Canned Heat. Dad gave his :great: to Al's band's musicianship. Everybody had a great time. I love sitting next to first-timers.

The luckier consequence of my lucky ticket purchase: during WBUL Al sat in my lap! I was hoping to be sung to, of course, but the lap-sit took me completely by surprise. I'm sure he sang something at the time, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you what it was. I have also forgotten the Craigslist coffee shop.

After the show, we went 'round back to hang out hopefully by the fence. Actually, I wasn't all that hopeful because the next night's show was in Reno, and there's a lot of highway between here and there. But Jim and Ruben came by & chatted a bit, and finally there was an announcement that Al would be meeting us by the bus after all ("one picture, one autograph"). So Peggy, Julie, Tina and I saved Al a bit of time by asking for one group photo and no autographs (Vikki and her aunt had hung out for a while, but her aunt was fading a bit, so they went home). It's always great to be able to talk to Al after a show, and I've been really lucky that way this year. A wonderful last show for my tourchasing season!
