Weird Al and Snoop Dogg... ideas?

Remember when Snoop Dogg got really bored a while back, so he made some odd-looking Twtivids with a green screen and sent them to random celebs?

Snoop @ Weird Al: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxHogjKf ... r_embedded

Does anyone think Al would collab with another big name artist like Snoop to do a parody? The only thing close to that that he's ever done was having Tress MacNeille voice Lucy in "Ricky." (I think it's funny to ponder that the first song of the first studio album Al ever did was technically a duet, and ever since he's flown solo.)

At the time Snoop made the vid, we were of course still waiting for Alpocalypse. I thought at the time that Al could try a parody of "California Gurls" and have Snoop rap the rap section, basically parodying himself. Looking back... maybe not such a great idea. But would Al ever collab? With Snoop or otherwise?

This is a possible version of what could have been said between Al and Snoop.

Weird Al @ Snoop on Twitter: "You got it, Snoop!"

Weird Al @ Snoop on Twitter, private messages: "Are you kidding me? Where do I even begin? How about, first of all, it's Yankovic. No 'h.' NO 'h'!' If you were trying to say 'Yankobitch,' a.) I'm still not exactly flattered, and 2.) it didn't even sound like that at all. And what the hell is a remake? They're called 'parodies,' dude. Where have you been lately? (Besides, you know, jail.) And you know what? Who are YOU to tell ME to 'do another remake?' It's my JOB, for crying out loud! Do you think I'm just going to sit here the rest of my life and twiddle my thumbs and play Scrabble with my dog? I'll get around to it. Geez."

...or, you know, maybe that's a bit exaggerated?

I don't think Al would have anyone do a full duet. Perhaps he might have someone like Snoop do a small bit in a song, though. Having Snoop do a cameo or larger bit in a video, though, would be awesome. Snoop's a cool character..

That being said, The Lonely Island is getting everyone and their brother to do stuff in their songs and they are selling so who knows..

If Al did collaborate with Snoop dogg or any other really big name it would gain a lot of attention everywhere cuz the other person would probably want to talk about it in their stuff and it would also make news since it would be his first collaboration. I was really hoping that there would be an Al snoop collabo.

I think collaborations are a great idea. I really wish Al would start doing style parodies of rap, and then he could have cool celeb. cameos and features in his non-parody songs.

I know this doesn't count...But didn't he do a weird version of "What's My Name"?

You don't see Al do duets with other people very often. I don't know if anything would happen.

If this is going to happen, it's more likely Al would appear on Snoop's album or maybe in a music video. It's a shame this will probably never happen in reality though because I think they would make something really cool.

This. The reason The Lonely Island get so much publicity is because (in addition to high budget videos) they get celebrity cameos on the songs. If Al got a few on his songs (doing actual singing parts, Ben Folds or Taylor Hanson playing piano doesn't count), he could find another big hit on his hands...

And since Snoop wants to do it, why not?

While I think that having Ben Folds and Taylor Hanson, certainly count, it would be cool if he could have got Snoop Dogg to do the backing for Another Tattoo. Or something similar in the future.

Eh, they're both situations where you'd have to know they're being featured; you couldn't tell just by listening since they're not vocally present (at least, I don't think they are off the top of my head) and Al's band is designed to mimic the sound of the original artist, so even though Ben Folds has a pretty distinct style of playing piano, it wouldn't necessarily be a giveaway. And you can't really put a sticker on the front cover that says "Featuring Taylor Hanson on keyboards!"

Nearly every Lonely Island track boasts an instantly recognizable guest star contributing vocals. Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beck, Adam Levine, Akon, T-Pain, etc. (that list is just scratching the surface) are all core parts of their respective tracks, whereas Ben Folds and Taylor Hanson were more like little in-jokes/winks. That's not undermining their contributions in any way but they weren't exactly cameos that could be used as selling points.

They also have the advantage of a network tv show footing the bill for their videos, with exposure weekly. If TWAS was still around, I think Al would have taken advantage and gotten a video or two made on their dime.
