I was watching an interview with Colin Hay, the lead singer of the 80's band Men At Work, and part way through the interview he was asked if Weird Al had ever approached the band about parodying one of their songs. Hay said yes, and that it was probably "Who Can It Be Now?" Does anybody know anything about this? I was surprised since I had never heard anything about it anywhere or heard of any concert only parody Al had done of them. I was a huge fan of both Al and MAW in the 80s and it would have been awesome if Al had parodied one of their songs! You can see the video yourself at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ6nPOlD1_w
Look for it around the 2:30 mark.
hmm...strange...A "Men At Work" parody would've probably went on to be one of Al's more solid, underrated works but "Who Can It Be Now?" isn't exactly a song that would've lent itself to be such an obvious parody target on the same level as "Eat It" or "Like A Surgeon" or even "A Complicated Song"...my guess is that it was just going to be in a polka medley or that it could've been a song for "In 3D" Al just decided to scrap at the last minute like "Im N Luv Wit Da Skipper"....maybe it could've been something that Al was planning for "Dare To Be Stupid" but had to remove from the album (it probably couldn't have gone in the food medley if it wasn't a food song) to make room for hte dreadful "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch"...I, too would like to hear what Al's possible idea for a parody would have been for this song but I doubt he'll ever make it known
