Mod Edit: Obligatory check the date warning :P

You may have noticed that I haven't posted in weeks. Well, I've been busy. I just got a degree in video game designing, and I flew to Nintendo Headquarters with some game ideas. One of my ideas just happened to be a Weird Al Yankovic game, and coincidently, Nintendo was already developing one for the Nintendo Wii. But Nintendo thought my idea was so much better that Nintendo asked me to finish working on the game, and a mix of the original ideas and my ideas were combined for an ultimate game.

The game is a big parody of various video games, and titled Weird Al and the 19 Gold Spatulas (it was originally called Weird Al in Blunderland, and involve silver sneakers, but Nintendo liked mine better). It will contain 27 worlds with four levels each. Almost every world will be based on a specific game or franchise. For example, world one will invovle parodies of Pac-Man, with Al collecting bread crums and avoiding the ghosts of Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Karen Carpenter, and Janis Joplin.

Oh wait, I haven't explained the plot yet. An evil prince, whose name is an unpronouncable symbol resembling a light bulb with a saw inside of it, steals Al's 19 golden spatulas. After each world Al will either get one of the spatulas or a different-colored accordion. Al must "collect 'em All Back!" Twinkie Weiner Sandwhiches produce an extra life, while spinach cake turns Al into a zombie. There will be many bonus games, including one that spoofs the Virtural Boy.

One world spoofs the Super Mario Bros. franchise, with gaphics resemblign Super Mario Bros., and elements of the latter games included as well. The screen only scrols one way, and Al complains about it whenever a player tries to move him back. Bonus games are similar to Mario Kart (with Al racing his band mates) and Dr. Mario. There is even a nod to the japanese Mario 2 and the minus worlds.

Some worlds combine elements of many different games. One world will mix Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants, and the Beavis and Butthead video game into one weird parody. Another world combines Paper Boy with the Lion King video game. Talk about weird!

If thsi game sells then a follow-up game, Accordion Hero, will be released.

I knew that was coming, didn't fall for it for a second. Nice try, though.

Yeah, I didn't think people would really fall for this (I think people would be just as likely to figure out that it's a joke as they would when reading an april fools joke on All Things Yankovic, where the variosu April Fools news posts usually DON'T admit to being an april fools joke). I thought about this joke for awhile, and got more ideas last night. And the fact that I hand't posted here in awhile made me thinkt hat it could have worked better (I just didn't feel like posting for awhile).

Rats. I had considered writing that Harvey the Wonder Hamster occassionally appears as a sidekick, similar to Yoshi or Tails.

Those titles? I only made up one game (unless you mean the "in-development" title and the "new" title). Oh yeah, and accordion Hero as made-up. All games that I said would be spoofed are real games, not ones I made up (just search for them on Wikipedia).

On april 1 this site became the Darryll Hall forum, and most mentions of Weird Al Yankovic were automatically changed to Darryll Hall (even if I just referred to him as "Al" it would be changed to "Darryll"). It looks like most of those mentions weren't changed back to Weird Al Yankovic. I wonder if it's possible for me to change "Darryll Hall" back to Weird Al (and the fact that it was chanegd to the Darryll Hall forum almost discouraged me from making an april fools post, but eventually I caved in).
