I arrived at Sault Ste. Marie, MI around the same time that I had in Duluth. It might have been a shorter drive according to Mapquest, but it sure seemed longer. It also took around another 10 hours. Once at the hotel, I walked in and met Joe who was going up to his room to get something right before the show. We chatted real quick as he had to move quickly to continue to get stuff set up, but he said it was great to see me again. As soon as we got checked in, I was going up to my room and going up in the elevator, Jim wanted a ride. So, I rode the elevator with Jim again, but we were staying on different floors this time.
I then went down to the concert a little after 6, got my ticket from Will Call, and got my seat. I was just a little to the right of Steve, but had a great seat. I went into the concert and the pre-show music hadn't even started yet, so I decided to go outside. I was walking next to the busses, which were parked right out front, and Steve walked by. He said hey, and that it was nice to see me again...I replied him too. I then decided to go back into the show after walking around for awhile, and the show started around 7:17.
The show seemed to go perfectly and Al kept his word of messing with me. Even though, I was front row, I was at a weird spot to the right of Steve, and Al came over to sing to me a lot. It was funny because he hardly ever comes to that part of the stage. Also, during Wanna B Ur Lovr, he sang to the woman next to me 3 or 4 times while looking at me. So, it was like he was singing to me, but he didn't really want to look like he was literally singing to me. Also, during Wanna B Ur Lovr, I noticed right when Al was going back up on stage, that Steve had been over me making faces, like WAR described that he did to Yank in the Duluth thread. Also, during Saga Begins, before he came over to sing the last part of the chorus, he was standing staring at me there in front row..Later on during Albuquerque, he asked me if I was paying attention, I shook my head yes, and he said ok. He then went on to the other line of that moment, where he says he hates it when he gets 10.5 minutes into a 12 minute song and forgets where he's at. He asked Steve if he should summarize it and condense it, and Steve said "Summarize and condense it for me Al"(which was the first time I had actually heard Steve talk in his normal voice for a concert), and Al proceeded to do the saurkraut line.
There were only a few problems. Al got twisted up at the start of Pretty Fly for a Rabbi. Also, at the end of the concert, the video got stuck in the "new look" video and the intro for Fat. So, Steve, and the rest of the guys joined shortly after and they kind of did an extended intro for Fat.
I got to meet Al again after the show, for the third time in 3 days. I had him sign one of the confetti caps that I got off the cannon. He couldn't figure out what it was, or why I would have him sign it, so I told him. He said that it was interesting. He then signed it and asked me what number this show was. I replied 5, and that I had 4 left. I told him to have a good couple of days off, he said thanks. I then told him I would seem him in Muskegon, and he said he'd be looking forward to it. Also, earlier before Al came out, Ruben was going on to the bus and asked me what number it was. I slipped and told him 6, but then corrected myself and said 5.
This chase of concerts has gone great so far, but I'm actually kind of glad to have a couple days where I don't have to do anything. I have definitely got new respect for the guys traveling, even though they have a little better ride to the shows.
I can wait for Muskegon! But, I'm sure I'll be ready that day...!
