Yesterday, I realised that I knew one of Al's cousins. I'd known him for months, but only knew him by his first name, and he didn't know that I was such a fan of Weird Al. Anyway, his name is Ned Yankovic, and he told me some things about Weird Al that I didn't know. Somehow I don't think any of you knew it either (I couldn't find any mention at www.weirdal.com, All Things Yankovic, or Weird Al Wiki).

For example, I was told that two years ago, Al was offered his own reality show about his personal life, but he turned it down.

Back in 1990, Weird Al considered an offer to star in an action movie where he played a killer, but eventually turned down the part. Ned couldn't remember the title, but remembers that Al threw a fit after the movie was released. Al was then relieved when the movie went from number one to number 23 in one week.

At one time Al considered having Airline Amy be his lead single from Off the Deep End, but eventually decided that it would be best for him to not have any originals be lead singles. This decision also led him to not release Airline Amy as a single or a music video.

And Al has actually recorded the concert-only song Green Eggs and Ham.

What news! Some shocking, some not. I couldn't believe my ears when I was told this! And we were deprived of an Airline Amy music video.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot........ April Fools!!!!! None of that actually happened.

The worst part about that is that all of it sounds plausible. At 1am, though, anything sounds plausible...

I'm so glad we have an entire topic dedicated to one April Fools joke.

...And Al really did record Green Eggs and Ham. Not even joking.

I knew something wasn't right as soon as I read the part about the movie....doesn't sound like Al at all, to me anyway. I couldn't imagine Al ever even considering playing the part of a killer.

But you know what I mean, that was a cameo, and a comedy too. I couldn't imagine Al considering doing a movie where he was a killer, that y'know, killed people.... :lookaround:

Why don't we just have an April Fools day thread and people can post their wannabe pranks in there?

Because then nobody would fall for it after the first one.

I didn't know that. But I figured it would sound believable since Al got permission from the group that wrote the song it parodied (I think it's titled Get Up and Stand) but not from Audrey Geisel. After writing this I wondered if I should have also claimed that Snack All Night was recorded bu tnot released.
