forgive me if this has been posted already.

Total Earful
10/7/06 on WRUW-FM 91.1 Cleveland
with Matt Garvey and Andy Krajewski
Weird Al Spectacular!

Be sure to listen for my interview with Al, my interview with Bermuda, requests for both, a special Al surprise, and of course the Most Unwanted Song!

Please note:
This has really been Technical Difficulties Week around WRUW, in part because of the upgrade to our production studio, so that not all the equipment was working perfectly. Among other things, if I used the Telos phone system for the interviews, only I could hear myself, so they had to be done through speakerphone.
Also, a few days before the show, our webcast and archive computer's hard drive died, which really threw a wrench in the works. Of course, the file you'd get from that would be 56kbps mono, so in some sense this isn't all bad, but I'd still like to give a word of warning. I recorded the show to two CD burners at the station (half to each), but the first burner took the signal right off the board, so the voices are a little low and some of the music is very loud. By comparison, the second half is better volume-balanced, but has a bit of a hiss and occasional fuzziness. It's not perfect, but it's still pretty good. (The switch takes place right after the interview with Bermuda.) (The other option was a recording directly to my computer from a standard radio, which was supposed to be a mono mix but somehow got only the *right* channel, and has a bit of a hum.)

Enjoy!

I haven't listened to this yet as it's taking forever to download. If I did calculations on the filesize correctly though it's 1.5 hours. I believe the interview with bermuda took place on a later date but is in the file.

you can get it here. there are two versions (64kbps and 128kbps).

Andy... Krajewski? That was Suzanne's maiden name. I wonder if that's just a coincidence or if they're related.

I'm going to wait on downloading this until I get home tonight so I haven't listened to it yet, either.

I just read a transcript and he actually brought that up in the interview. the interviewer sounds like a huge fan.
EDIT: listening now, sounds kind of unprofessional, lots of questions that seemed to have no point. He does ask about some things like the complete Al and such. :)

I didn't download the interview, I just streamed it, and didn't have any problems...I've listened to both Bermuda and Al's interviews and even though I've never heard a more nervous (I'm giving him a bit of leeway) interviewer in my life, both interviews were great. It was nice to hear from Bermuda too! I learned lots of things I didn't know, but I won't spoil it for all of you...:P

Thanks for the links cody!!

Could someone please post a link to the transcript for both interviews (Jon and Al). I will never get this downloaded in this lifetime.
Thanks

Well, the interviewer certainly did seem nervous. But for good reason. You can clearly tell that he's a die-hard fan of Al's music. This interview has none of that "So, tell us about the Coolio incident..." He was asking about stuff like getting The Compleat Al released on DVD (don't get excited, Al said he doesn't even know who has the rights to it).

Al's interview was pretty good, he asked a lot of questions that hadn't really been asked already. But I really enjoyed his interview with Bermuda. Lots of interesting stuff there.

Very nice.

My first impressions of the radio host were... well... I probably wouldn't listen to him if it wasn't for the Al interview. He's kinda boring... and not very organized (even on the part that wasn't the interview). He says "um" and "uh" a LOT... This is not the best interview I've heard. No offense to this guy, but I'll stick to Ryan Seacrest.
As far as the interview goes, it was a little too much "omg im a huge fan... uh... um... well... ya kno... youre awesome... youre cool... and this and that" and not at all a professional radio interview. it sounded like just a random star-struck fan who recently bought a radio station and used money left over to get Al to do an interview.

It takes money to get Al to do an interview? Right after an album is released? More likely all it takes is a sufficiently large base of readers or listeners, and a polite request.
