I just have a quick question.
For those who went to the Albuqueque show a few years back, did he perform the song "Albuquerque" for the audience?

I really doubt that but, you know, anything can happen.

I think I read somewhere he did, but I'm not sure.

Actually, yes he did and many other encore songs. There's a nice review at Al-oholics Anonymous, but I can't seem to get the right link to the review for that, so I'll just post it here.
Encore! Encore! In Albuquerque

Folks, without a doubt, this was the most intense and screwed up performance Al and band has ever done. The whole audience was just waiting for Al to let loose and play the song for the city he was in. As a first teaser, prior to playing "One More Minute", Al typically tells a little story. This time his story went something like this.
Way back when I was just a little bitty boy living in a box under the stairs in the corner of the basement of the house half a block down the street from Jerry's Bait Shop...oh wait, that's a different story. Actually, you may have noticed that we have some extra security in here, that's because we have a special celebrity sitting in the audience. The Great LUKE SKI is in the house everyone! Stand up Luke.
Apparently the joke behind this was that either the Mayor of Albuquerque of the Govenor of New Mexico were sitting in the audience, and it was meant to sound like he was going to acknowledge them. "Gave props to some and others I dissed 'em" in the truest sense.
Finally, the show ended as it normally does, but that's where all the weirdness started. Here's just a quick review of what happened during the 45 minutes e xtra added multiple encores...
After the final song of the regular set, the whole audience went nuts awaiting for Al to come out and do one last special song. He came back and said "Ok, we'll play the one you've been waiting for" Then proceeded to play "Mr. Frump In the Iron Lung", which is rare in concert.
Then leaving and returning to the stage again, he says "Oh, so you wanted a different song. Well, here's the longest song we know" The band then starts to play Inna Godda Divida (sp), which by the way doesn't sound too bad on an accordion.
He then turns to an audience member and says "Angela, you have inspired me. I've just written a song for you". Then the band goes into some really crazy punk riffs and Al screams with all his might "ANGELA!!!!" followed of course be "Thank you, goodnight!"
Another walk off and on and the band starts yelling "ok, stop screwing around", giving the audience hope that the ride was over. Al then says "Right now, were about to do a song we've never done live before, so please bear with us. It's 'Wipe Out' done in four different keys, all at the same time!" T his was incredibly hideous that you just had to laugh.
On the next return trip to the stage. He mentioned, "I don't know if you know this, but I wrote a small little diddy about your town, Albuquerque." The audience then went wild. This simple cheesy ballad then came out about the town, and was nothing like the song everyone was waiting to hear. "I Love Albuquerque where all the people are really quirky". Don't expect to find this on any rarities tape!
Al, then with the audience in the palms of his hands returned again to the stage and started to play what everyone came to hear, "Close To Me" by the Carpenters. For some strange reason, there was much groaning and booing from the audience.
On Al's almost last trip out, they FINALLY begin to play the mother of all Al songs, "Albuquerque". This song wasn't without it's own little add-ons and specialties:
This marathon song certainly took a lot out of Al. He was out of breath, and had to look down at some notes occasionally. Hey, you would too!
Donuts. Donuts and MORE donuts. Al ran through about six or seven extra kinds of donuts in just to keep everyone stuck in the theater a little longer.
More Mad Props. During the portion of the song where Al speaks about meeting a certain person who is carrying a sofa upstairs all by himself, he mentioned that person by name. Thus, ending all rumors and speculation, if there were any that, Marty Lick *IS* Torsoboy (this picture is NOT from the concert).
When Al "lost his train of thought" near the end of the song, he simply turned to the audience and said "Uh, I'm sorry, I'm completely lost it. I guess we'll have to start over!" And they do!
On the 2nd go at it, Al starts to say "My mother would make a big ol' bowl of ...." then stops, and looks around and says "Oh yeah, that's where I was. I HATE SAUERKRAUT!" and the song continued from there. Al didn't really forget the words. The restart was just yet another way to keep the show going longer than anything he had done before.
Finally, as Al gasped his last "ALBUQUERQUE!" Al walked off stage, and the band did their final note jam session. First Jim left, then Steve left, then Ruben left, leaving Jon to just do whatever on the drums for another minute. And with it all coming to a close, they all return and just when you think it's all over, THEY START OVER AGAIN! After the first line or two, they go back to ending the song and with one jump, Al signals to the band that it's all over. They all wave to the crowd, which is on it's feet and roaring, and they exit the stage for the last time.
So, that's what happened in Albuquerque. Don't you wish you were there.

hehe, thanks for posting that review, CB! Oh, and CD's right, some guy DID bring it to some convention a couple of years ago. Although, we didn't really get to see all of what was mentioned in the review. I do remember seeing them sing the quirky Albuquerque song, Wipe Out *which was hysterical!*, Close to You *not Me, like the review says, and then, just the very beginning of Albuquerque. We couldn't watch the whole song, because there wasn't enough time. I felt very priveledged to have been able to see that footage. It would be very cool if that were released somehow, although I have a feeling it won't.
