I'm not sure if we've covered this before, but I notice a growing trend in reporters, interviewers, and the media in general, who say BHD went double-platinum. Accordion to The Mothership, it only went platinum.

So who's right? The media or Bermuda? Discuss if this hasn't been discussed already. If it has, sorry mods! :lookround:

I'd tend to believe weirdal.com in that case. Al and Bermuda have access to better numbers than any reporter would.

Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) (search for "yankovic") says BHD went gold on 5/15/96, and platinum on 6/11/96.

I would have to guess reporters may see the numbers and think it's close enough to double-platinum status to just say it's double-platinum.

My personal opinion is that Bermuda's right, and if it ever went double-platinum, he and Al would be the first to know.

I remember seeing online at Billboard a platinum and gold notice for two of his albums, emailing Bermuda and seeing his reply:

"I posted that a LONG time ago!!"

Oh well, it's supposedly VERY close to double platinum. Al said that SOMEwhere...
