"Weird" Connections Between MST3K And Al

Well, it's known amongst most Al fans that our boy is a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000. However, I found some interesting links between the show and Al. You can pitch in if any of you have info.

1. Joel Hodgson, writer and creator of MST3K, is a friend of Al I believe.

2. Joel was asked to play Philo in UHF, and the script was written for Joel in mind, but he turned it down (he was on hiatus).

3. Here's something from a history of MST3K...

Though there was some worry that Joel loyalists might disrupt the affair, both BBI and fans were pleasantly surprised by the enormously supportive greetings and standing ovations Mike received every time he appeared. And while CC baffled attendees with a booth featuring something called The Wheel Of Fish, it also got high marks for contributing funds toward the costume ball held on the last night of the con.

You can't have too many Wheels of Fish (Wheels of Fishes?) in my opinion.

Shouldn't this be in AlTV?

Here's a purely coincedental, but nevertheless interesting one:

Jef Maynard, the kid who gets sliced open by Conan the Librarian in UHF, shares his name with Jef Maynard, former prop guy on MST3K (He was before the lovely prop diva Beez McKeever). No, they are not the same guy.
