07/27 Cincy Review

Post by Alinite1 »

Just got back from the concert in Cincinnati! Hey, I know it's two days after it, but I did just get back from it.

Anyway, I didn't do very mch in the park that day, and if it wasn't for Al, I wouldn't have been there. Just killed some time, confusing the people that worked in the park, tellin them bout a concert, that was later on in the day, especially hen I got to the part bout it being a Weird Al concet, they looked at me like I was crazy. Anyway, that's always fun.

The concert was supposed to start at 7:30. Got over to the ampitheatre around 6:30, so I could get some merchandise before the concert, and if I knew how much time I would have before the concert, I would have probably waited a lil bit longer before going over there. After, I got my merchandise and was settled in, it was round 7:00. The roadies started coverin everything up, around that same time. I was startin to get kinda worried and mad at the same time, for some reason, could be because they didn't tell us what was going on, for a long time, or that the security guards, were evil, or both. Who knows?

Finally, somebody told us, what was going, there was some kind of storm comin, and that Weird Al wouldn't be comin on until around 8:30. This was fine with me, because I know that Al is going to give you the best experience that he can, I just wish that the Kings Island people, would've been a lil nicer about it.

Anyway, the opening act, Jeremy, a comedian from the good ol' city of Cincy came out. I thought that the guy was really pretty good. Though, everybody else in the crowd didn't seem to think so. I thought it was good that he would come out when the storm was still threatin, but most other people didn't seem to think so, yell'n stuff like Al better come out NOW, I want Al not a @#$% like this. That was really disrespectful to him. It's a known fact that nobody can open great for Weird Al, because the guy really invented the whole gender of comedy. But, I think that guy did the best that you possibly can, in openin for Al. Well, the guy finally went away round 8:30, but it started raining again.

Oh, and I should say, that while it was raining, lightnin and thunderin, and Kings Island couldn't let Weird Al come out, they could let their roller coasters run, which, I don't kno if it's just me or not, but it seems like that's a lil bit more dangerous than a concert, but anyway.

I went and got some shelter under I think a Top Gun Food place or somethin, til he rain slacked off a lil bit, went back to the Amphitheatre, and around 8:45, I think, Skip came out. He was really nice, came out and told us, that they were going to start in a few minutes, and to be sure that they were going to give us a full show. That is really the great difference between Al and any other artist. Any other group wouldn't have cared a bit about their fans, and probably wouldn't even have gone out, or if they did, do a shortened show. Al is a true great, though, and he gives his fans as much as he possibly can every time he is out there.

The concert started around 9, and there was truly a hugh, and I mean a HUGE pop, when Weird Al came out first. Everything was so awesome. I thik it was really great that he started out with Angry White Boy Polka, (I hate acronyms), cause I felt that it brought the energy up and it kept it there. I was truly in the best spot you could get there, the three rows, my row and the row in front and back of me were truly the focus of the crowd energy. There was guy in the 12th row left center, right in front of me, to the leftof the row, that looked like he'd been a fan ever since Al existed and was into the whole concert. Then on the left of my row, me and my cousin, I figure people thought I was drunk, since the whole concert I was standing up, I didn't care what the security people told me to do, they weren't taking the fun out of the concert for me, singin, and yellin through the whole thing. And then there were two kids in the row behind us to the left, that looked like they were 14 or 15, and had probably only got Running Wih Scissors and Poodle Hat, but they were really into the concert too.

The rest of the set list was pretty much, the same as the other concerts, I'm pretty sure, it's set now.

After Fat, Ruben came out and did his chopsticks, Hat Dance thing, before The Saga Begins that was so great. During the chorus of Saga Begins, Al got drowned out by the crowd. You could really tell that he enjoyed playing in front of us.

Then Yoda, was great as it always is in Concert, and the new Yoda Chant is so awesome, I hope everybody gets to hear it.

The merchandise there was very great! I got a baseball cap, that has Poodle Hat on the front, and "Weird Al" on the back. I also got two T-Shirts, a White Tour Shirt one with Al and his album cover on the front and the tour dates on the back. And the Couch Potato one.

This was so much better than my first concert I went to in Charleston, WV, the crowd was so much ino it, and there were so many more Hardcore Fans at Cincy. There really isn't any words that can sum up, how great that concert was, it's something you truly have to experience to believe. Hopefully, I'll have two more shows to go to at Cleveland and Charlotte, though, I'm pretty sure that NOTHING can be as good as that concert was. This was truly the best night of my life so far, and I have no idea how anything can even come close to comparing to this night!!

Even at the Charleston one, I got Al's autograph and still nothing of that concert can compare to this one a bit, even if I didn't get Al's autograph. I wish I could think Al and the band personally, for everthing they did for me on this night. Thanks Al and the band!!!

I was there too, I loved it! It was my first Weird Al Concert. I'm actually glad it was delayed, because the parking lot would've been terrible at the time that it ended. I thought the whole thing was awesome, and I agree with you about the comedian, he was pretty darn good. I also loved when Al introduced the band. I, too, got a T-Shirt, the orange one with A blue pic of Al on front, and "The Weird Al Experience" on back. Overall: 8)

Totally different line up.

Post by DeniseU »

I saw Al in Cinci and in Milwaukee, and the line up could not have been different. Completely different! He did about a third different songs and nothing was in the same order. I loved both shows, but I think he mixes it up a lot so not to get bored. He even said that. I was surprized it was so completely different in Cincinnati. I love both shows, but Cin. was longer and I thought it was totally awesome!

He did different songs? Are you sure one show wasn't just a short show or something?

It's very unusual for Al to completely change his set list. While he may mix it up a little, he rarely just totally changes it. He may be forced to change the order if it's a shortened show and he wants to do certain numbers. I'm suprised he changed it.

I was surprised also.

He pulled out quite a few songs that he didn't do in Milwaukee, and didn't do many of the ones he did there. Of course he did most of the most popular songs. Everything was in a completely different order of course. It was not just a short show.

Did anyone stay long enough to see if Al came out?

Post by DeniseU »

We only stayed about 25 mins after the show. They convinced us that he was not coming out to greet the fans, but I regret staying to make sure. Because the show was late, I thought they might be telling the truth. Did anyone stay to find out?

Nope, I left right after the show. I had to drive back to Indy and was wet, tired and exhausted. Great show. Much better than when I saw him on the Scissors tour. Got the tour T-shirt with the poodle on the back. HIs prices were great too. He really does pay attention to his fans, I could tell by his show that he reads these message boards.
