shortened show

Post by Anthony1791 »

I saw two shows on the Bad Hair Tour (good tour!): San Francisco's Filmore, Santa Clara Fairgrounds. The Filmore was one of the best concerts ever (I love that venue!!!).

The Santa Clara show was great, but shortened, with about five or so songs cut out. Al said in some FAQ or something that they do this because at County Faires, the promoters want the public to spend more time "buying corndogs" -- if I remember correctly.

The Santa Clara show on this tour is at Paramount's Great America, a theme park. This is the closest show to me. Does anyone think it will be a shortened set? It's not exactly like a county faire, but there will be some similarites. Does anyone know how I could get a reliable answer? I'd drive to L.A. if I thought I'd catch a couple obscure songs.

Alot of the times they arent shortenedm, but sometimes they are. I think it would be a good idea for bermuda to post whether the setlist will be shortened or not. But its just one mans opinon. What you should do is contact the fair itself and ask if there are any restrictions on the length of an event.

One clue might be whether there's more than one concert that night in that particular amphitheater or theater. If Al's the only one on, it seems likelier that it will be the full show.

A bunch of us went tho the TWS Great America show last time. We had also been to the TWS show at the Fox Theatre in Stockton. The shows were the same length, nothing cut out. In fact, the Yoda Chant was a tad longer at Great America. The only drawback was that the sun had not completely set so some of the earlier movies were hard to see. But AL was EASY to see--great show! As always! Hope to see any of you there September 7! :D

In the RWS tour I went to both stockton's fox theatre and Great america in santa clara and both were great uncut shows! I also saw the sacramento state fair show that year in the begining of the tour and none of the three seemed cut. They were all really good.

The new poodle hat tour however... the kelseyville, ca show yesturday was an entirly DIFFRENT story   ....

Yesturday: the show was more than an hour late the top cover of the stage at the venue blew offf before we got there and the screen blew down and looked like it got messed up real bad before the show.

Skip (al's tour manager i think), told us before the show that they're will be NO video! I was so upset.

The concert went on. He started with couch potato the polka and so on....

There was an abnormaly huge old song medley. Then eat it and fat and a his normal good bye....and then....NO ENCORE!!! i waited a half hour and they took down the stage.

As far as the song played:

All the poodle hat songs except for "trash Day" (but i did get a glimps at what that costume looks like in the dressing tent on the side of the sage. Which al didn't use because he only played songs with a hawiian shirt and jackets (song like: melane, one more minute, beverly hillbillies, your horoscope for today)

The ONLY costume songs were Couch Potatoe in the begining and fat at the end.

None of these songs: (which is why it sucked so badly)

Bedrock anthem

smells like nirvana

amish paradise

like a surgeon

dare to be stupid

The saga begins

and NO YODA! :(

Since I live in CA i have to wait no for the end of the tour and hope Great America in santa clara has the full normal set WITH the video screen.

It was a MAJOR disapointment. But I dont blame AL... only the venue.

They did give us a cool poodle hat postcard as we walked out though...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience DJ. I hope you get to see a better show sometime on the tour. As for the PH postcard, anyone from the first show get one? Or was it an exclusive?

Please don't judge The Poodle Hat Tour by the Kelseyville show. The other shows I saw were full two hour shows and complete with costume changes and video. If Al plays again in the area, hopefully there won't be any weather issues and you'll be treated to a much better show.

Just think though, you did get to see a unique show. Most people never get to hear a guitar solo, a bass solo, a bass solo encore, and The Hernia Rap!!!

Al and Jon actually apologized to me for the show, and I'm sure they both would want me to extend the apologies to other fans at the show who had to see that.

The postcards were cool. They are basically just the cover of the album on the front, and a list of all the tour dates on the back. I didn't see them at any other shows I was at, but I imagine they'll show up elsewhere.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your bad show experience. As far as the post cards go they did show up in Kalamazoo. I'm sure that all the cut songs had to do with the venue mishaps. I can tell you He did not play Bedrock Anthem or Like a surgeon at my show though. With all the songs Al's got under his belt we can't see them all at every show. He's got to change some of them around. And it is and awfully big belt for such a small sexy waist. :P .

:stupid:
Attention Michiana Al fans. I will be on Fox 28 Morning show on October 12th 8:00 hour. Wheeeee

There's no doubt that Bedrock Anthem and Like A Surgeon are out of the setlist for this tour. It may be true that Al felt freer to cut numbers that were documented on the Live concert video.

Actually that "Abnormally" huge old song medley is part of the regular show so if you didn't like it at Kelseyville you won't like it at Great America. Bedrock Antheme isn't in the show any more. Neither is LAS, or DTBS. I'm surprised you were so dissappointed. Al didn't have to go on at all. They all risked themselves against horrible winds just to try and please all the fans, you may want to show a little gratitude. But if you hated it so much because of the missing songs...you won't like it any better the next time.
