I Want a New Duck
I'm surprised that this song does not have a topic since it received quite a bit of love during the Setlist Survivor contest; a pleasant and welcome surprise to the last tour.

Re: I Want a New Duck
Easily one of my favorites!!! I still remember sitting in the car as a kid, and my babysitter was driving my younger sister and me somewhere. This song came on RadioDisney, and we both loved it, laughed our asses off. A few weeks later, I went to Tower Records with my dad to get a new CD of Al's, and choose Dare to Be Stupid, without even realizing Duck was on it. Was very excited when it came on over the car's speakers.

I just stopped to consider for possibly the first time ever what a bizarre concept Al came up with for "I Want a New Duck". I realize you change Drug to Duck, but the fact that he settled on that and got so much material out of it is really impressive. I've always loved this song!

I disagree with all of you. I think this is an awful song and a smurf album in general. Huey Lewis deserved a better parody.

Your point about I Want A New Duck is taken, but I disagree about the album in general!! Dare To Be Stupid, One More Minute, This Is The Life... YODA!!!!!! Lots of great gems on this album!MandatoryFun wrote:a smurf album in general

Re: I Want a New Duck
I kind of agree with you. I enjoy "I Want a New Duck" well enough, but the concept was kind of lazy. It seemed like just the first thing that popped into his head. Same with "Girls Just Want to Have Lunch," which was intentionally awful.
But I agree with Jon. OMM, Yoda, TITL, DTBS, and LAS are all solid songs. And compared to "Eat It", "Like a Surgeon" was a very clever parody.

I'd hate to meet the person not allowed to have an smurf.MandatoryFun wrote:Opinions are like assholes. We're all allowed to have them.
Lunch and Duck are pretty terrible parodies, but so much of this album's become a classic.
Sever your leg, please. It's the greatest day.
