I'm just curious if anyone knows if Al and his band record a full song in one day? I wasn't sure if the recording dates on his site mean he completed the song in one day or if the recording dates mean that's the day he finished the song. Does anyone know?

That's the day they started the recording. I'd assume they could do a song in a day, the first a album they probably did several a day because they had a limited time.

In most cases, bands record one instrument at a time for all songs--typically starting out with drums, then laying down guitar, bass, etc. with vocals usually reserved for last. So it'd be rare for songs to be completed in a single day, although it's not unheard of--the Beatles recorded ten songs start to finish in one day for their first album!

Bermuda of course could provide more insight on how Al and the band specifically go about their recording process.

This would explain why the band posted about going into the studio May 3rd and Al tweeted about going into the studio May 9th. They had to have been recording separate tracks. Thanks, anth!

Well Al would be there with them even if he wasn't recording. He's the boss after all
