Barnes and Noble is already holding my copy of MNTAM for me. Al's going to be in the Twin Cities twice in one summer (August 3 in Prior Lake, an exurb of Minneapolis / St. Paul).

It was very, very crowded. He didn't do a reading, but it really seemed like he spent a good amount of time with each fan. He was so seriously amazingly understanding (I was so nervous I could barely form words) and I did see him give hugs, I didn't get a hug (just the arm around the back like in the pic and a handshake), and there were lots of pictures being taken.
We got there at like 12:30, got the book and waited until I think almost 4:30 when my number (129) finally came up. Best wait of my life. So much energy in Weird Al fans. It was amazing.

I arrived at 8:00 at Barnes and Noble with Dan, and waited for an hour for them to open, which rendered me the 10th person in line for an autograph (and presumably the 10th person in the world (of the general public) to officially own the book). I brought my friend Taylor along, who much to my disappointment was not familiar with Al outside of White & Nerdy. Needless to say, she was schooled by the end of the day. Arrived back at the book store around 1:15 where Taylor got some much needed coffee at Starbucks, and we grabbed a table and read the new book. I loved Billy's constant arguing with the teacher! Brought back some memories for me.
Al came out around 2:05. The lady running the show claimed she could get real nasty if she had to...I didn't believe her as she could not have been nicer! She seemed very shocked when I told her I had been to around 40 shows. Then it was my turn in line to meet Al. Immediately he jumped back in excitement at my shirt. "WOW! THAT SHIRT! I LOVE IT!". He signed my book, and then we posed for a pic, which had the giant crowd of people around us chuckling. Great moment! And then Taylor had her book signed and all 3 of us posed for a group picture. Awesome time!
