Is there a chance there could have only been one?

Now you're just talking crazy.Alinite27 wrote:Is there a chance there could have only been one?
What we can be 99.9999992% sure of is that Al isn't done with the album, that at the very least, he's still waiting for inspiration for the lead parody. We can also assume, based on Al history, that if he's waiting for that new single to parody, that single isn't out yet. So what I'm interested in now is predicting what's going to be hot this summer, a la all of last summer's hit singles (a collection of Al-ought-not-parody ditties like Blurred Lines, Get Lucky and Miley's smurf). Here's what I've gathered - a running list of the most notable artists either scheduled or speculated to release their next albums this year (who Al hasn't parodied yet, though he's polkafied a few).
-Adele
-Beck
-Kendrick Lamar
-Kanye West (already?)
-Pharrell
-Foxes (she sings on Zedd's "Clarity," and this is more of my own opinion/expectation that she will become bigger this year)
-Frank Ocean
-Robyn
-Modest Mouse
-Lana Del Rey
-Foster the People
-Miranda Lambert
-Nas
-Jack White
Any one of these could have majorly successful singles out this year, or none of them will, and someone we've never heard of will show up out of nowhere and dominate the summer! Who do you like on this list? Did I miss anyone obvious you think should be included?

Re: Album 14 Speculation :3
As much as I love Beck (and the singles are fantastic, so I have high hopes for his new album), I don't think he's likely at this point to have that hit song that enters the zeitgeist the way he did with "Loser" 20 years ago.
This is more of a wish than speculation, since Al doesn't usually parody indie music, but I would love to see a Chvrches parody, or even a style parody. They've gotten enough buzz for me to cross my fingers but not enough to put money on it. Prove me wrong, Al! Make me regret not putting money on it!

I think you are asking if this could be the lead? I think thats the only time they go in for one song. It only makes sense for them to go in and record more than one to save time for supporting songs.Alinite27 wrote:Is there a chance there could have only been one?

Yeah, I think Jeremy was responding to my question about how many songs could he have recorded. I think he would've done two or three this month too because it's obvious he hasn't found a lead single yet.minnick27 wrote:I think you are asking if this could be the lead? Although, PTW seems to be the only song he has recorded just one song in one session that turned out to be the lead. Before that, Al has always recorded at least two songs even when he was recording the lead.
The only exceptions to this rule have been LAS and MFN/BH, but the latter is another case entirely as he also happened to be filming UHF around this time and figuring out when he could get Mark Knopfler to record.
Speaking of parodies Al may or may not be recording, what do you guys think about the possibility of Al doing a parody of "Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera?

Definitely potential there. It's not new anymore but it's still very popular, still Top 10 on iTunes. The question here is, would he have a woman duet with him (harmonize, really) or do the straight male-only version? We already know Amanda Palmer is featured on the album, and I'm definitely not against Al featuring other artists in his work.Killingsworth wrote: Speaking of parodies Al may or may not be recording, what do you guys think about the possibility of Al doing a parody of "Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera?
