Hmm, I like it! Ke$ha was on the last polka too, but I don't mind. It's popular and it fits.

And I was just thinking that even the Bruno Mars's newest music is not new anymore (Unorthodox Jukebox was released in 2012), whatever he plays at the Super Bowl halftime show will rocket back up the charts again, at least the iTunes charts. He's had so many hits, I can't imagine Al wouldn't at least consider making one a lower supporting parody.

I wouldn't rule out Bruno Mars (I've been waiting for "Locked Out of Heaven" to be polka-ized ever since I first heard it), but he was sort of represented on Alpocalypse with "Another Tattoo."

But yeah all the new songs are by the same artists as the past few years so it's kind of hard to tell what will happen at this point

I personally hope Wrecking Ball is in the next polka because I like the song but idk if it's likely (see Party in the CIA)

This is making the rounds today, from last night's Fallon show:

I only post this because The Boss has always been conspicuously absent from any Al parodies or polka medleys. Always wondered if Al would ever get around to him, and if Bruce had a sense of humor about himself and his songs. I guess he does. I think an Al spoof is overdue and would love to see a Springsteen spoof on the next album. Something off of his seminal Born In the USA album could make for a good "classic rock" parody. (But of course, Al would have to have a great idea to warrant it....I don't want "Born In a Chevrolet".)

Yeah I think if some cool newbies don't start showing up soon, Album 14 will just be parodies of songs from forever ago. So yeah Springsteen would be cool for that!

I would even like to hear a "Wrecking Ball" parody if he could work the word "reprehensible" in there somewhere.

Well, we know at this point he has some parodies fully written and he asked around at Bonaroo last summer. I think it's safe to assume at this point that Al has found some "cool newbies" but hey, there's still time for him to record a Springsteen or other style classic parody.

This seems to be a fallacious point to me. I think there are plenty of artists other than Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift who Al can target this time.

If for some reason the album was surprise-released tomorrow, Katy Perry, Macklemore, Lorde, One Direction, even the Arcade Fire, are all new artists who have proven to be big enough to be parodied. Not to mention some of the biggest acts today who Al has not parodied on the last few albums: Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, all have released albums in the last six months. And on top of that, we have the next six months or so probably while he is looking for that "next big thing" for new 2014-era hits to be released by even newer artists that make Macklemore and Lorde seem like throwbacks.
So I disagree slightly with your premise that Al would be forced to do an album of all classic rock parodies because there is a dearth of contemporary music for him to choose from.

Having said all that, he has not done a classic rock parody since 2003, and I certainly agree with meadows that we are long overdue for a Bruce parody or style parody. :king:

I agree with all the names Jon mentioned except for Katy Perry. She was included in "Polka Face" so Al may want to hold off on her for a bit. Also, while "Piano Man" is a classic I think calling it "rock" may be a bit of a stretch.
