Not really. Unless you count SLN, none of his big hits have been rock parodies. They're usually pop or rap. Al is known for parodying what's popular. Like it or not, pop music is what's big right now, not rock.

Most of his hits from the 80s were rock, sans "Like a Surgeon" and "Fat".

And SLN was technically grunge, not rock.

Which ones? Besides "Eat It" and maybe a couple others, "Fat" and LAS were the only BIG hits in the 80s.
JCM, that's obviously why I said "besides SLN.".

Yeah, most of Al's early parodies were rock.

Being released as singles doesn't automatically make a song a hit. Most of those songs you listed were NOT commercial hits.

I still hear every one of those originals listed on the radio quite often, so they are still making money 30 years after their release, which to me is a commercial hit.

We weren't talking about the originals. We were talking about Al's parodies, based on JCM's statement that Al's rock parodies are "what he's known for". My point is that while he may have plenty of rock parodies, they're NOT what he's known for. He's known for his big hit parodies, most of which have NOT been rock parodies.

All of them minus "My Bologna," "Money fo' Nothing," and and "Yoda" charted. Yoda wasn't even released as a single and it has become one of Al's biggest hits.
