I think it was just because it was too close to the time of Lennon's passing when it was being played.

Yeah, that's probably the same reason few radio stations played Eat It or Fat after MJ's passing.

My opinion of MJ hasnt changed, but the one cool thing he did was let Al do those two songs, cause Al made em better

That's not my guess, it's what I remember hearing about the situation. Although it was so long ago I don't remember where I heard it.

I never hear any Al misic on the radio where i live. Only a few times over the years one being when he was a guest on one of the radio stations. I always wished that somehow the Dr. Demento show would be broadcasted here where i live so i can hear him but that most likely will never come to be

Ive only Gump in the last 5 years around here, and that was only once, but I dont really listen to the radio and the guy I was with at the time told me that that he heard Livin' In The Fridge and My Bologna on there before.

Dr. Demento's show does not air on radio stations anymore. You listen to it on his website (for a fee) via internet audio streaming.
