I'm Henry, I'm not going to Al Fest. Not because I don't have the money, my parents would be more than happy to lend me money, but the problem is transportation, I hate being in passenger planes and If I drove, I would spend all the money I was going to pay for Al Fest for gas and food. Even if I had enough money to pay for Al Fest, I wouldn't have enough money to make it home. Living on the opposite side of the country isn't very good all the time.

Hi!!!
I'm Susie and l, too, will not be attending AL-fest.
Financial and family situations , as well as possible 2 day classes, will probably be keeping me in the Cleveland area all summer vacation! (I've been on both sides and I really believe teachers need the break more than the students!!!!)

Lord, please break the laws of the universe for my convenience.---Emo Philips

I'd be there. I have family in Franklin and Donaldsonville, this would give me another excuse to visit them.Dr_Dad @ June 11, 2009 09:12 pm wrote: So, does the concept of Mardi Gras parades and a FREE Al concert on a weekend in February [in 2010 or a future year] sound like something you WOWAYers might be interested in??
Should I look more into this?![]()
Or give it up as a pipe dream?![]()

I had every intention of going but unfortunately, I lost my job at Echostar. I developed an ear infection that decided to spread to the TM joint in my right jaw and since my job required me to be on the phone, wearing headphones and talking all day, it kinda interfered with that in a big way. I ended up missing nearly three weeks of work and my employers, being the understanding folks they are, fired me despite the medical documentation. I've since gotten another job but even if I could come up with the money to go, there's no way I can get the time off. I'm planning on going back to school to get my associates degree in pre-K education and my certification in sign language; since I have a BA in English, I should be able to take care of that pretty quickly. Hopefully, if there is another Al Fest in the future, I'll be able to go to it since I should be in a better job by then.
