Never noticed Al has black tape over his mouth at one point during HN while the ice skater girls are fighting

Also Amish guy playing golf in the background while Steve checks his sundial watch

Sweat pouring off Al at end of AP right before the backwards part

QUOTE Uh... since when does Al have BLUE

QUOTE kristen jacobs (alhead27) of Marietta GA asks: In the complete Al... why are your eyes blue on the cover??

Gee, I never noticed that before! I guess the artist was taking... uh, artistic license!

This is not subtle, and I am so embarrassed, but I actually did not see the hoe in the original "Fat" video until last week.

BTW, don't tell the friend I was talking on the phone with, but Al's videos are still really funny even with the sound off.

I've noticed the last two before, but I've never seen HN (and I have the video!), so I wouldn't know, but I'll be watching for it.

It was my friend, not me, who picked up on the hoe joke... and I had seen the video several times before he did! You're not a lone.

I never noticed the hoe until after I had seen it live.

I'm so glad that video was made back in the 80s.

If it were made today, they probably would have used a whole different kinda ho. :eh:

I can't see Al using something other than a garden tool, that's not him.

But who knows...

QUOTE I just recalled a little incident that happened during the Reagan administration that may have inspired this joke. Reagan was getting ready for a radio address and he joked about pushing the button, and the missles were on the way -- not realizing he was on the air. There was a little backlash but Teflon Ron pulled thru.

Indeed, you are correct there, El.

According to Bartleby Quotations:

On August 11, 1984, President Ronald Reagan was preparing for his weekly radio broadcast when, during testing of the microphone, the President said of the Soviet Union, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." The remark was made during a time when technicians had the microphone open and the President didn’t think he was being heard. He was just jesting as he was testing. :P

Remember, Al recorded the video for C@GZ on November 21, 1986. This was an occasionally unsettling time when that incident and the infamous "Empire Of Evil" speech Reagan made in June 8, 1982 [which led to Reagan's desire to develop the infamous "Star Wars Defense" technology to shoot down nuclear missiles from the Soviet Union before they could hit us] were fresh on people's minds. As a result, in late 1986, America was likely thinking about nuclear war more at that time than at any other time period since the 1950's [which Al then cleverly referenced with his use of the classic 1951 "Duck And Cover" civil defense film in the C@GZ video]. So, Al -- cultural mirror that he is -- focused on the events of the time; I don't really think it was a political statement at all. Of course, not long afterwards [around November 10, 1989], the Berlin Wall's demolition began, the Soviet Union crumbled, and it's all ancient history now ... especially to you young-uns under 20 ...

"Empire Of Evil" for the Soviet Union ... Hmmm .... Sounds suspiciously like the "Axis Of Evil" I've been hearing a bit about lately. :lookround:

Nope. No. Not goin' there. Sorry. I'm sticking with my Al chatter.

Carry on, troops.

Dr. Dad

[PS -- The actual Reagan quote on C@GZ is "Well, the big day's only a few hours away now. I'm sure you're all looking forward to it as much as we are." I'm not sure of the exact source of that clip yet, but it's obviously a Christmas reference.]

You mean that's not a Cinco De Mayo tree in the background?

No, silly, Cinco de Mayo trees are festooned with nacho chips and Budweiser bottles. Trust me, I know about these things (professionally speaking, that is)
