CB, on the talk shows that do interview musical guests, the interview is usually after the performance. But, the Tonight Show doesn't roll like that, unfortunately. The musical guest gets to play, then Jay walks over and thanks them, and that's it.

But remember, Al is happy about this, people! Cheer up!
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Yeah, no matter how it shakes out exactly, this is obviously a good thing. That kind of exposure for Al (and specifically, WaN) is always a good thing. :Y

*imagines Jay Leno trying to interview Al after he performed W&N....*

I bet he'd be all out of breath

hehe, yeah, Al has said in just about every interview he's done since he found out about his appearance that he hopes he doesn't pass out. We know you can do it, Al!

I know, but I was just talking about my experience of watching the Tonight Show for the past couple of years. This is quite normal for the Tonight Show to have the musical guest last and that's it. It would be a irregular experience if they actually interviewed Al with the performance. I don't recall that happening while I've been watching it.

This will be quite good, and he hasn't been on the Tonight Show in a really long time, well, besides with Ben Folds. I can't wait for this. This will give us a glimpse of how it'll be in concert a bit. (breath, Al, breath!)

All I said was there are other talk shows that do interview musical guests. I never said the Tonight Show folks did that. Al didn't get to talk to Johnny Carson, either. But Johnny still seemed to really enjoy his two performances. Of course, when Al was on Wayne Brady, he was interviewed first, yet we still got a decent performance, even if Al had to cut a verse for time.

Hmm, I'd never really thought of it like that. I just pictured in my mind that he would be wearing the gangsta garb like on the SOL cover and at the Virgin signing, but now that you mention it, he might be dressed like in the video. It would certainly be easier to move around in, because the gangsta wear seems kind of heavy. Can't wait! ^_^

And congrats to Jon and Diva for scoring tickets!! :whoot: I would have tried for some, if it weren't for the whole "school" thing. Give us the details as soon as you can after!

Congrats, Jon and Diva, on getting tickets! That's great, and I am happy for you, and I'll be looking for you in the studio audience.

My computer and VCR/DVR will both be set to record this amazing event ... I cannot wait.

And I agree with El ... the nerdy garb HAS to be worn, for the most effect possible ... and then, when (and if) Jay walks over, I think it would be cool if Al whips off the wig and ... lets his hair down.
