Do you see that button that says Report? About 10 people are hitting that right about now.

Yeah, I actually paid $.99 on iTunes to download and listen to the original song by Blunt, thereby putting money in Atlantic's pocket. (I know, I know. . .I SERIOUSLY had never heard the original version before Al's! Yes, I live under a rock. Several.)

Still, while I'm all for letting Atlantic know they're a bunch of jerks (politely, of course), I'm not exactly sure what this will accomplish. Even if they change their minds, there's little-to-no chance YP will end up going on the album now, is there? I mean, it's been given away for free on weirdal.com and anyone who would have wanted it has it on their iPod by now. Why would Al restore it to lead parody again even if he could? It wouldn't be a selling point for the album anymore...

If anything, Atlantic will learn from their potential mistake anyway...

I think it would just be letting Atlantic know that they are being buttheads.. No, wait.. I mean....
They need to know they are not being reasonable about this and that Al has done everything he can to make the artists he parodies comfortable in letting him parody their work. And that having him take note of them means that they really have made it in the music world or he wouldn't be doing it in the first place.

Yes, that would be Mr. Waits. My second favorite musical artist. . .next to Al, of course!

I get you're point, but like dj's mom said, the letter writing is just to get Atlantic to realise they have been unreasonable. Also, this whole ordeal might make Al think twice about doing a parody of another one of their artists in the future, so if we can get them to change their attitude then maybe Al willl be able to do a parody without being charged a crazy amount for royalties

No, you're absolutely right. That's exactly it. We just have to find a really, really nice way to say it. :)
