Your task today is related to Weird Al and shows how savvy your business is. Both teams will go over to eBay.com. You will search for a Weird Al item that does not have any bids. Once you choose that item, you will PM me with the link. If both teams end up choosing the same item, the team that chose it second will have to choose a different item. The winning team is the one whose eBay item makes the most profit (in dollars, not percentage) from the opening bid. Choose your item wisely: one that will probably get a lot of bids; but one that isnt so low-priced that it wont make much profit, and one that isnt so high-priced that it might not get that many bids.
Requirements:
1. The auction must end within four days (Friday at 7 PM EST).
2. Members of your team CANNOT bid on the auction.
3. You cannot start up your own auction for this task.
4. You cant promote your auction anywhere on the forum (including the eBay Items topic). If another forum member brings it up in that topic, congratulations, because that's ok. But don't go asking anyone to post it because that is NOT ok.
If anyone receives a PM promoting the auction, please forward it to me immediately.
Discuss it with your team and have one member PM me with the link by midnight tonight.
And although the auction has a maximum length of going until this Friday (which would make the boardroom on Monday), if your items end by Thursday, we'll be able to do the boardroom on Friday!

In the event that your item has the Buy It Now option and somebody buys it at that price, then your dollar increase will be this:

Shipping doesn't count toward the final price, unless there's a tie in terms of price increase. And if there's a tie after that (or neither item gets any bids), a judge will select the item that they would have been more likely to bid on.

The task is over. I received this PM from Akrovak:
Akrovak's honesty is to be commended, but even though he is a very strong player, it wouldn't be right to let him continue in the competition. So by request...

In case anyone's curious, here's what the Bad Hair Days chose, and here is the Iron Lungs' item.
And not to worry, sumo, you will still get an exemption on the next task. I'll post the task on Friday, and you'll have until Sunday to work on it.

I have no real idea how ebay works, so I don't personally know if you can search like Dave said, but I am assuming you can.

1 ... our auction fit this criteria.
2 ... none of our team members bid on the auction
3 ... we did not start the auction (I don't know who it is, but he has sold over 1700 things on ebay)
4 ... we did not promote or send PM's to anyone on the forum.
How am I SO certain about 2 and 4?
Because meanvegan1 is a co-worker. He has never been on this forum. His only association with anything Weird Al is thru me. I told him about the auction and game yesterday, and asked him if he would be interested in bidding. He was. I broke NONE of your four rules ... although I stepped out of the box a little bit.
I messed up. On our forum, I posted basically the same thing ... not mentioning what I did, because of George The Duck. HOWEVER, if we had won or lost the challenge, I WAS all prepared to reveal my strategy ... Dingo just called my hand sooner than I expected.
By the way, meanvegan is not a new user on ebay ... but he could not remember his login yesterday, so had to create a new account (meanvegan1). Also by the way, I do not know the second bidder at all ... that was just some good luck.
Anyway, there you have it. Please terminate the task, and take me to the board room and give me the boot.
