Can ANYONE explain to me why Bob is not a video, but all the half-assed videos on SOL and Alpocalypse are videos? I fail to see any logic in that assessment.
A better question - Everyone seems to agree that Craigslist is a music video. WHY is that a music video and not Bob???
Yeah, that disconnect has always puzzled me as well. I could possibly understand the debate in 2003, but as soon as Al placed it on TUVC, out of the Al-TV context, that went out the window. Stuff like "Bad Haircut" and "Livin' in the Fridge" are just short clips, but if Al had done the full-length LITF in that style, nobody would've hesitated to call it a full-fledged video. But while "Bob" may not be hysterical, it stands on its own just as well as it did on Al-TV. Maybe even better because on Al-TV, it was like, "Ok, we get the homage here; can we get back to the interviews?"

I'm back to speculate again. I just found out that a few weeks ago, Adam Levine lent his speaking voice to Family Guy for some self-deprecating humor (and more importantly, we know he lent his singing voice to The Lonely Island). It just made me think that should Al decide to parody Maroon 5, Levine would be more than cool with it. I know someone in this thread said Maroon 5 was going to turn into the Linkin Park of last album for how much we want them to be parodied. But I think this makes total sense, because of the commercial success of Overexposed and Adam Levine's additional spotlight from The Voice. There are plenty of singles Al can parody, but I would even be satisfied with a style parody - their sound is distinctive enough for that.

If Al did a style parody of Maroon 5, I would expect it to be more like how Skipper Dan was a style parody of Weezer, in that (unlike, say, Craigslist or Dog Eat Dog) it's not crucial that you understand the style parody reference in order to appreciate the song.

Would Al save his next album until 2016 just for another Star Wars parody?

Meh. I prefer "Higher" by Creed when I need my classic rock fix.

I can't decide which description is less appropriate; "classic" or "rock".
