Yeah, I didn't follow up with Al, but my first impression was it is some huge epic production number. Will probably end up being some lame song about how the Jets suck this year.

I think Bermuda was the one who said this. Al just said he had finished all the originals. Still, this is cool news. Thanks, Dave!
I can't guess which "epic" song it might be since it could go either way. It's probably whichever song has the more broad and relatable subject matter.
Life is a bowl of three-legged salamanders swimming around in an infinite ocean of strawberry jello...
I have a hard time hearing it formatted to a polka (although Al has worked miracles before), but man, how awesome would a parody of "Royals" by Lorde be?

I was thinking this same thing the other day. It has been all over the radio, so Im gonna assume it's on his radar.

Plus it's got a lot of lyrics, which means there's a lot of room for Al to play around.

Not that there's any reason Al couldn't do it also, but I think more "Wacky Ben Folds cover" for that one
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?
Would a Ben Folds cover really be wacky for a song like this though? It seems to be getting universal acclaim and I don't think a Folds-style arrangement would be quite as surprising as on "Sleazy" or "Bitches Ain't smurf." But I agree, he could do a pretty nice job on "Royals."
The lyrics--more particularly, the call-and-response chorus--are why it jumps out as a particularly good parody target. The structure gives Al a lot of wiggle room.

Oh my God stop. I swear. I just watched this video ten minutes ago so I can't take it anymore. If that is the case I will officially lose my will to live.
Anyway. "Royals" by Lorde. Yes, definite parody material. Not only at the top of the charts out of nowhere, but the list section before each chorus presents so many options. It makes more sense than any of the last five songs/artists we latched on to.
