Oh cool. I haven't been able to visit Al's twitter lately. Every time I try my computer says that it's blocked a virus from attacking. Weird. But, cool, I'll watch that.

Thanks for the link. Turned it off when Al lost the Comedy Album, as I figure that was his best shot. Couldn't see Al in the crowd. Too dark.

Little late on this in regards to Floridaves last post. Jim does the guitar, are you talking about the part with the steel pedal guitar? Pretty sure Ruben does that on the keyboard there. I don't think there is any banjo in it.

Yeah, I was just wondering if it was a pre-recorded track or if Al or Ruben happened to be playing it.

The intro has some mandolin actually, possibly some banjo in there, but live Jim does it on his guitar with a simple effect. Anyways, Floridave was actually talking about the refrain after the videoclip, so were talking about different parts here.

I don't doubt that it might not be a banjo producing the sound since they can do amazing things with electronics and keyboards these days but it sure sounds like a banjo.
I went back and viewed the Ferguson clip again. After the video clip, Jim's guitar is hanging by the strap and he's not playing it although the sound of a banjo is heard. They seem to use backup audio on the polkas etc. (Jim Self, Warren Luening and the rest of the instrumentalists on the recordings don't tour with the band but are still heard in concert) so I figured they could be using it on the show, also.

I thought you were talking about the really short pedal steel part Ruben does on the keys, maybe thats like mid-chorus, right before "stalking you, jus' waiting by your front door.." Think you hear it after that video too, anyways, the madolin and banjo sounds are probably programmed and done by Ruben if you don't see Jim doing it.

thanks, yankomaniac...jim obviously seems to only be playing the regular guitar parts, so I guess Al is just playing regular accordion notes to the song which are barely audible for some reason...
