If anyone is interested and needs to make hotel reservations, the Days Inn Columbus Fairgrounds is $65 a night through hotels.com and is only 3 miles from the LC Pavillion on Neil Ave, according to the Rand-McNally site. I'm going to call to make sure it's actually that close to the venue before I make my reservation but it sounds like a good place to stay, especially if you just need a place to crash after the concert. If anyone wants to share a room and split the costs, let me know.

I'm getting both excited and nervous about this concert, nervous because I've never driven to Ohio before. I get a little anxious when I have to drive an unfamiliar route like this but I can't pass up another chance to see Al, especially with fourth row seats!

You can "drive the route" with Google maps Street level view so you can get used to the look of the nearby junctions and landmarks.

I spend a lot of time "hanging out" on various American streets on that thing, just looking around and being creepy! ;)

Is anyone familiar with this facility, especially in regards to camera usage?

According to their website, pictures are fine as long as it's OK with the performer. I think it must be right downtown because when I called the Days Inn today to find out if they were just three miles from the venue, the guy who answered said they were three miles from downtown Columbus. I asked about the LC Pavillion but he didn't speak English too well and didn't understand what I was asking him about. I don't know how friendly they are concerning meet-and-greets but I'm going to hang out afterwards and find out!

I wrote to Promo West about the photos and their reply was "Unfortunately per artist and management no photography will be permitted."

That does NOT sound right! I wonder if they just made up any old answer to get it over with or didn't pay attention to who I was writing about!

Well, when I called when I first got the tickets, I was told it was left up to the artist. After Jon complimented me on my Richmond pics, I told him I was bringing my camera to Columbus and since I'd be in the fourth row, I thought I'd get even better pics this time. He said to let him know how it goes with that so I would think if Al was not permitting photos at this venue, Jon would know about it. I have a feeling that the message you got was the standard cookie-cutter reply they send to everyone who inquires about pictures so they don't have to take the time to send individual emails about each individual artist.

I just checked in the photo tips thread because I remembered I had mentioned something about the camera policy there. They told me "small digital cameras" were permitted according to that post. I'm taking mine with me and if they say anything, I'll reluctantly put it away but I'm not going to leave it behind and have it end up that pictures are permitted.

I'll also be posting this over in the Rock Hall thread, but this is just a reminder that I'll have my video camera with me outside before the show to tape fan interviews for the Rock Hall video documentary.

Assuming the doors do in fact open at 7:00, I'll be arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 at one of the nearby public parking lots at that intersection, and it will be pretty hard to miss me considering I'll be lugging a camera with me and generally be campaigning (and Nancy, I will e-mail you back later today to coordinate things better).

If anyone is planning on going and would definitely like to appear on camera to answer a few questions and make a personal plea to the Rock Hall Foundation, if you'd like you can PM me through here and request a specific time to find me and be interviewed. If not, just look for me when you arrive (but do note that if not enough people are participating, I might just pack everything up early).

And don't worry, I will NOT tape anyone who does not want to appear on camera (you'd have to sign a release anyway in order to be interviewed), so even if you just want to come by and say hi or maybe help pass out a couple of fliers with the Rock Hall address on it, that would be cool, too. I'm hoping we can get a sort of "tailgating" atmosphere going.

If anyone has any questions about the video (as opposed to the concert itself), please PM me or post over in the Rock Hall thread.

See ya there! :)

Sounds good, Greg - I have the banner and we'll be in town before noon.
