Hey Jackie-

I didn't see you at Holmdel. Will you be at the DC or Kansas City shows? I think those are my last 2 of the tour.

Your photos are really fabulous! What kind of camera did you use?

I brought my really nice Nikon D40 but they made me put it back in the car. I ended up taking my crappy little camera and took some pretty awful photos. That sucks out loud because I took hundreds of photos of Duran Duran at the same venue last year using a nicer digital SLR with no problems.

Thanks for the pics DrSteggy. Now I feel foolish for wasting the effort taking pictures myself as mine didn't come out nearly as good as yours!

It was a great show! Afterwards, I found the spot where the tour bus comes out and waited with about 7 or 8 other people to see if he'd maybe stop and pose for some pictures but he drove right by us in a pickup truck. Bummer.

The PNC Bank Arts Center camera policy is:

Cameras are allowed.  Except Adrian.

Taralyn: I won't be at either of those--mid week to DC is tough for me, given how work likes me to, like, work :D They are being REALLY SUPER about letting me slip out for some of these PA shows though, so I am not really going to whine much about it.

I use a Canon Powershot S3--it is a nice camera for low light stuff, generally. I've only had it since May so I feel I am still learning it a bit. My old film camera (Running with Scissors and Poodle Hat)was also a Canon. The Powershot has image stabilization, which reduces the blur (the blur I am getting now is similar to what I had on film--I think I'd need to move to a pro level SLR to totally get rid of that, and I suspect that I could not get that into as many venues) and it has a 12X optical zoom, which is about a 300 mm zoom lens (I used to shoot with a 200 mm) It uses regular double A batteries (4 of them--and charge them up full before hand! I run through a set a show)

I actually had some trouble with the camera last night--I had a lot of photos I deleted because it was not quite as quick focusing as it seemed earlier in the tour. This may just be me being out of practice with it though.

flobiwan--thank you for the compliment--its been a learning experience using the cameras though! You can see some of my earlier, crappier stuff at my website:RWS Tour photos/reviews So don't feel silly....if I had not improved my skills to where I am getting good stuff by now, I'd leave my camera home!

The links are sort of broken to go back, and I see that I never scanned in the last 3 or 4 shows I hit on Poodle Hat!

Yeah. It's been 3 years and I'm STILL suprised they let me use it, considering how the PNC is usually VERY strict on their camera policy. But you're right Jackie, always try, because the worst thing they can do is not let you bring it in.
I was elected to lead, not to read.

I did find the security at PNC to be a bit odd--I purposely carry a lot of extra crap in my purse/camera bag to dissuade people from digging too deeply. I also made sure my bag was open and I offered it immediately, like I had nothing to hide. I dunno how much this actually helps or not--but the person searching my bag defintiely did not see that camera--they just glanced inside.

We were like 4th row, and I had a clear shot to the security guy, so I was not sure how much I would get to use the camera. It was clear pretty quickly that they guy just did not care. I sat with the camera either in front of my face or in my hand at face level the entire show--and there were a lot of very obvious cell cameras...and heck, Nancy was nearly in that guard's lap with her camera!

I hope hope hope the Keswick is as camera friendly as in May....I think we have front row there!

(squee!)
