Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

The Herald Sun has credited Al as performing One Crowded Shower [parody of Augie March's One Crowded Hour] in this little write up.

Would Al even know who Augie March are? Have they broken the US yet? I don't listen their stuff so I have no idea how big they are.

That woman in the orange was unbearable.

You thought that was unbearable??? That was quite nice compared to what we had to sit through at the taping. The editor did a fantastic job cutting out her crazy antics.

Here here Em!

We had to sit through over 1hr 45mins - most of that was Ari blabbering about stuff no-one was interested in - for example the first interview part were they asked about her childhood looked quick on the aired copy but in the studio went for about 15 mins & was all over the place. They couldn't shut her up, she also danced behind the recorder kids, yelled out over everybody, complained loudly & often that Al had more photos & video clips, (which was true but she didn't have any more) & put Peter Hellier through more hell than they showed. The comment Dave O'neil made about you should talk about being off your rock(er) was a sign of the frustration in the studio.

Anyway, the point is the editing was fabulous & the show was very funny, 99% of Al's best bits were left in. It was also obvious that Adam Hills is a big fan.

Sorry if this is harsh sounding or a rambling but I have just got in from work & have to catch my plane to Adelaide in a few hours. Yeah!!!

Did Al actually perform One Crowded Shower during the taping? Because if he did, it might be a good idea to let the ABC know that we'd like to see it sometime. :F

I just posted about that somewhere. He didn't perform it. Adam sang it, and that was it. That part was just after Dave O'Neill did the whole "the weather's hazy" bit. Al said "this is my life, people. Everday, everyday of my life" and Adam ripped up the piece of paper that had One Crowded Shower written on it, but then pieced it back together and sang it.

Thanks for clearing that up, Emily. It still sounds like a fun idea though...

Yeah I was really confused about that article, how on Earth would they get that wrong? Must've been like Chinese Whispers.

Maybe it was because Adam Hills and Al just look so similar they got them mixed up

There is a funny coincidence here - re the Adam Hill's parody - One crowded shower after you & Evan left we stayed on for the next show taping (after Al same night) Augie March was the guest in Al's seat.

It won't be shown for a few months. Had Lyndsay Hammond from 70's band Cheetah as well, too old for you guys.

I just got done watching the show. That was really fun, and I haven't laughed so much in a long time. I'm very glad they edited that woman's antics, judging by what I've read. I loved Al singing the thesaurus. That was too cute! I also enjoyed the recorder ensemble. I play a few woodwind instruments, including recorder, and I thought they were great. Al looked fabulous, and I was very happy his team won. Yay! Thanks so much, mewrio!

Btw, it might not be prevalent in most U.S. schools, but my son Marshall played recorder in the 3rd grade. He still has his recorder.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

I was at TAFE the other day [like Uni but it isn't] and one of the guys in my class walked in wearing an Augie March t-shirt, and the teacher said something about One Crowded Shower. I asked him were he'd heard that and he said he heard it on the radio [it must have been an interview done the day after the taping or something]. He said that Al wrote it, and I corrected him, and he said "Oh yeah, but Weird Al really liked it and is going to put it on his next CD". I just said that it wasn't likely, unless he puts it in the concert somewhere, because it's likely to be a good 3 years before the next album. I didn't mention the whole Al not using parody ideas thing, and the fact that the content of One Crowded Shower was very topical [is the US suffering from water shortages?] because we had work to do.
