Well, Doc, I wish your posts could be put in some News block on TV, so we could have a step-by-step study of what's actually happening in New Orleans. I'm very, very happy that you and your family stayed safe. Also my cheers go to LadyKatia that she's in safety too. WOWAYers, keep on. My prayers are always with you.

Hey guys!!
Many, many thanks for all of your thoughts this last week!!! Even though many times I could not talk to people because I needed to keep my phone line clear (and was I ever happy to have a land line that worked!!) knowing people were there for me really helped me through last week. I really never in my life expected to have to be rescued by the National Guard! (Hey, I got to ride in a Deuce and a Half!)
Right now I'm just trying to get everything sorted out. I put in my application for FEMA assistance and I'm hoping that, at SOME point they can let people back in to the city so I can see whether or not anyone got into my house and get outwhatever I do still have there. Even if I decide to stay in LA, I will very likely not return to that house.
People have asked about helping. I really don't want to feel like a charity case, and if you only have a few dollars to give, I would encourage you to donate that to one of the general relief funds, however if you really would prefer to contribute directly to someone in need, I suppose I fall into that catagory at this point. My Paypal account is at my email addy [email protected]. Many, many sincere thanks for all your help, emotional and otherwise! I promose to not stay away for so long any more.
BTW, as I told Vikki and Dr. Dad, I had a battery operated radio/CD player while I was stuck, so I mostly listened to the radio broadcasts. Every now and then, if I needed a diversion, I would pop in a CD. The Al song that I kept coming back to was...
"Why Does This Always Happen to Me?"
It just seemed to fit.
Love you guys!!

I come bearing a gift. I'll give you a hint: It's in my diaper and it's NOT a toaster.
