Dave, you've heard Purple Haze if you're familiar with the "young Jimi" Pepsi commercial -- Pepsi and guitar or Coke and accordion.

But you have to hear the original full version. It's great.

I know I wouldn't mind hearing a nine-minute Hendrix style parody.

now, i know they're not actually choosing a brand new song for every single concert, but they have added some variety, and that's something particularly difficult for a large, already-planned out performance to incorporate.
Amen. I think it was in our chat here with Bermuda, wasn't it, when he explained the difficulties of doing any changes in the middle of a concert like Al's-- that has so much going on with costume changes, lighting and sound, etc., that it's really more like a theatrical play (albeit a MUSICAL one) than an ordinary concert. And yet they've found a way to change it up and make a bunch of diehard tour-chasers very happy. I've never heard of another group that was so responsive to the relentless pleading of their fans.

Maybe Al IS really taking requests... or at least suggestions... from TBITB during their long bus rides. Those one-verse covers must be a lot of fun for them to play too.

i know its a bit off topic, but i thought of an extended ending to that commercial:

Okay, its about 10 years later and you see a young kid around 12-13 and he has curly hair, and he gets a Coke and buys an accordian. Then it goes to a screen and it says,

"Maybe thats why they call him Weird Al"

and yes i know politcally incorrect that he first got and accordian that age but, y'know.
