And here are the CONCERT PICTURES CHALLENGE Answers [with Dr.Dad's
infamous "explanations" ... ]
[Please keep in mind, I tried to get a wide variety of images, some that would be evident to the over-30 crowd, others that would instantly click with the 25-and-under group. I figured everyone would know at least one instantly, though knowing ALL would be very unusual.]
Photo #01 -- Adam WEST (as Batman)

[Adam West is the
*POW!* actor who is most
*BAM!* [in]famous for portraying Batman in the
*BLAM!* campy TV series "Batman" which
*CRRRACCK!!* ran from 1966 to
*OOOFF!* 1968. "Holy overused cliche', Batman!!" *!*]
Photo #02 -- BERMUDA grass

This fast-growing thick grass is the main choice for home lawns as well as golf and sports turfs all throughout the southestern regions of the country. Okay, okay, I admit, this was probably the toughest one of the group out there. But hey, if you knew it was grass, then what did you
THINK it was?
WEIRD grass???
JAY grass???]
Photo #03 -- AL Sharpton

[Anybody from around New York City knows this guy. He's the "Rev"! Reverend Alfred Sharpton is a Pentacostal minister turned political street activist. Witty and intelligent but outspoken and controversial, he's now running as a candidate for the Democratic Party presidential nomination for 2004. You know, he might have a chance at winning -- I'm inclined to pick any man brave enough to let himself be couiffed in a James Brown pompadour.]
Photo #04 -- "So WEIRD"

[I left the Disney logo at the bottom right corner in as another clue. This was a Disney Channel series called "So Weird" that the younger players might remember that ran between 1999 and 2001. It was about a girl named Fiona "Fi" Phillips (played by Cara DeLizia, in the picture) on tour with her rock star mom Annie (MacKenzie Phillips from "One Day At A Time"), who keeps finding weird paranormal and supernatural phenomena wherever she goes. Kind of what it's like watching a Prince concert.]
Photo #05 -- "North By NorthWEST"

[The classic 1959 Hitchcock thriller in which Roger O. Thornhill (played by Cary Grant), an advertising executive, is mistaken for a spy and is pursued around the country by other spies. It has a spectacular end chase sequence on top of Mount Rushmore! But by far the movie's most famous scene is this one where Cary Grant is being chased in a field by a biplane. HEY CARY! -- Why don't you just DUCK?!?!?]
Photo #06 -- The BERMUDA Triangle

[That's the triangular area between Miami, FL; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and (amazingly enough ...) Bermuda, in which an unusually high number of ships and planes are believed to have been lost in ... never to return again. Ooh, so
creeeeeeepy ...]
Photo #07 -- JAYwalking

[Notice these people are crossing the street ... but NOT at an officially designated crosswalk!! *GASP!* QUICK!! SOMEBODY CALL THE
COPS!!]
Photo #08 -- AL Franken (as Stuart Smalley)

[Veteran writer and occasional bit player on "Saturday Night Live", Al Franken created on SNL the character of eccentric and fey self-help guru Stuart Smalley, who has his own program "Daily Affirmations By Stuart Smalley". Stuart, as you all know, is "a caring nurturer, a member of several twelve-step programs, but not a licensed therapist". Why did we include Stuart? Well, it's because "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and doggone it, people like me."]
Photo #09 -- JIM WEST or "Wild Wild WEST"

[This 1999 movie, which was a remake of the TV series of the same name (1965-1969), starred Will Smith (above) as -- yes -- JIM WEST and Kevin Kline as Artemis Gordon. Set in the 1880's but with touches of sci-fi, the movie follows these two guys, the two best hired guns in the West, who must save President Grant from the clutches of a 19th century inventor-villain -- hey, these guys battled a 100 foot giant mechanical spider in the middle of the desert, aight??]
Photo #10 -- JAY Leno (as the Crimson Chin)

[Yes, the famous lantern-jawed talk show host with the Noo Yawk accent provides the voice of this most unusual superhero named the Crimson Chin in the current animated series (2001 - present) on Nickelodeon "The Fairly Oddparents". Never mind what his superpowers are, I'm still trying to figure out why he's called the Crimson CHIN ...
