Last night I was watching Groundhog Day on tv. They played the enhanced version which gives facts about the movie. They were playing the "Pennsylvania Polka" and at the bottom they said that Frankie Yankovic wrote and played that song. Then they stated how Al and Frankie are of no relation altough they do both play the accordion. I thought it was neat to include that and it certainly surprised me to see it durring the movie.

That's cool, Jenni! I watched the first showing of Ground Hog Day, so we didn't want to watch it all over again for the enhanced version. I love that movie! Anyway, it's cool they mentioned Al!

Hope this is the appropriate place--was I the only one listening to "Weekend Edition" on NPR this weekend?
I was up kinda early Sunday morning and as I made my way out the door, they were doing a piece on the "sounds of spring" or something in Washington DC. At one point they were interviewing random people in DC asking them what they were listening to, and why...and someoen was into RHCP, someone else was listening to jazz...and then they go to the kid.
Kid chirps happily that he is listenign to "Weird Al! He takes a famous song like 'La Bamba' and makes new words for it so the you have 'Lasagna!'"
They play a few bars of Lasagna at this point...I'm not sure what made me giggle more--the unexpected accordion, or that the kid was listening to Old School Al.

Well if it was on the radio, it wouldn't really be a
sighting, now would it?
