First of all, thanks (I was a Puyallup dancer), and I've gotta say, I've been told I'm relatively attractive and I love, love, LOVE Al, and most other nerdy guys for that matter.

Also, with regards to comments made a few pages back about the girls chosen being "skanky" (or other similar description), I just have to say my friend and I who danced are not skanky at all, we're just normal gals. From what I gathered from the promoter that found us, they get most of their cheerleaders from local private elite squads or high school squads (or in our case, when he overheard us tell Al we were cheerleaders when we were getting his autograph after a show). So if the girls just happen to be skanky, it may just be a coincidence that they are the ones chosen (or who volunteer) from their squad. Also, it may have been their interpretation of the routine because whoever they find has to make up their own routine before the show (that's also why they usually aren't very good).

I just took a look via the search engine for occurrences of "skanky" and it doesn't seem to me (unless I missed it) that anybody said that any of the cheerleaders who really were cheerleaders were skanky. And normally we don't have any idea what the girls up there are actually like as people, unless we're pleasantly surprised by having one of them turn up on the forum here. :)

But every promoter has to find his own cheerleaders, and sometimes they're recruited not from cheerleading squads but from professional dancers. And some venues for professional dancing do, ahem, favor a skanky style (Maria's post about the concert that took place down the street from a strip club comes to mind). My guess is that as long as Al performs SLN onstage there will continue to be a rather variable array of cheerleaders up there with him.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Jilly, which year did you do ity since he was here twice? Looking at your pic in your profile, I can't remember.

P.S. I am 30 years old. Both years, the girls looked underage, so I err on the side of saftey to avoid the dirty old man moniker.

sumo, accordion to Jill's profile, she is 19. She was a SLN cheerleader in 2004.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

I wasn't sure if she was in the 2003 or 2004 show. Besides, I can't honestly tell her she's hot without feeling like a dirty old man. She is cute, though.

Thanks! Don't worry, you don't seem like the "dirty old man" type. I mean, you are an Al fan after all.

After reading this thread, now I have another reason to be sad that they didn't play SLN when I saw Al in concert! :(

However, the real reason I'm bumping This Old Thread is because I was watching the video for IAATP last night. Nothing wrong with the dancers in the video, but I would much rather look at Whitney in the MSS. :9~
