I would think so. I would also hope so. But if he doesn't, it's no big deal--just one line.

I'd be very surprised if the song remains in the setlist, but I would imagine he'd change it if it does remain. I'm sure he could figure out a way to change it to something else.

If he keeps the song, I think he'll keep the line too. I know of no instance where Al has ever changed a lyric in an attempt to be more sensitive to a current event.

Case in point, Smells Like Nirvana.

Didn't he actually cut some lyrics (particularly the "gay" and "playboy" lines) out of "Couch Potato" when he performed it on Nickelodeon a while back?

Re: Couch Potato on Nickelodeon -- that was Al giving in to a censorship demand. At his own shows, I don't think it's ever been an issue.

What had to be changed in CP when it was performed on Nick was in an Ask Al a while back.

Yeah, that was my point: Al didn't cut that song out of his setlist, when the subject matter was more directly affected by a death than the Anna Nicole Smith line in Couch Potato. Or something that makes sense.

That's a good point. He didn't change SLN, so I guess he wouldn't change CP either. It's not like it would be that big of a deal. Just because a person dies doesn't mean previous pop culture references should be erased.

That's a valid point. I guess the only difference though is that SLN was really a tribute to the band more than anything else. There were light-hearted jabs at them, but it wasn't anything that would be considered offensive if played after Cobain's death.

Of course the Anna Nicole line is very light as well, and I don't think most people would find it offensive even now. But I was just wondering what others thought.

However, I agree with Kevbo in that I really doubt the song will even remain in the concert, since nearly ALL of the then-current shows referenced in the song have long since been off the air. Plus, with W&N, IAATP, and AP (all of which are pretty much garaunteed to be in the show), there's already quite a bit of rap in the concert. CP will probably have a spot in the medley, though.
