I liked it a lot. That was one of my favorite late night show interviews. Both Al and Craig had me laughing the whole time. Lisa was funny too. I noticed TMZ was a little off in the beginning too, but I still enjoyed the performance. The band got some nice face time too. It was really nice to see "Crazy Al" show up for the interview. It seems like interviews lately he's been a lot more serious. He was having a lot of fun with this one.

I was surprised he was flat for a few seconds. It had to be that he for whatever reason couldn't hear it right, b/c I've seen him live a few times and he's always perfectly ON key. It was still good though, and the interview was GREAT!

He was. It's not an opinion thing.
This is why nobody asks me to tune their pianos for them. I knew there was something wrong, but...
Al was strong enough later in the song that I don't think he was sick. Could there have been something wrong with the way the sound board was being run? The balance seemed to be off between the instruments and the vocal; is it possible that at the beginning of the song Al couldn't hear himself? A tech problem would also explain why Al might have seemed a bit tense & tentative.

The interview and performance were both great. I also noticed that he was off-key at first, but by the chorus he seemed to have completely recovered. I think Helen may be onto something about Al not being able to hear himself. It would indeed explain why he was off-key and why he seemed tense. Overall, it was still a great performance, and it was one of the best interviews I've seen in a long time. Craig seems like he's a big Al fan.

If Al couldn't hear himself, then it's no surprise he'd be off.

Personally I think he was just aiming to sing it just a little differently than he did for the live DVD recording, and then once he started into it he realized it wouldn't sound too good after all so he just had to snap back to the regular tone. Bermuda was absolutely rockin it, nailing the snare and crashes, loved the drums.

I just watched WAY's appearance on Craig's show and it was a hoot. He and Craig interacted in a refreshingly spontaneous way as compared to some of Al's recent concert tour interviews. I thought they might touch on the Grammys a bit more with Al being up for 2 awards. Perhaps Craig will have him back in the future or maybe David Letterman will have him on his show when Al plays New York. Has WAY been on the Letterman show?
As for the TMZ performance, I also noticed that Bermuda looked different, having lost quite a bit of weight since I saw him in concert back in October. Perhaps he used this time between tours to lose some weight to better deal with the rigors of the road.
I think the TMZ soundtrack was playing through speakers with certain tracks left out. When they did the refrain after the video clip, Jim wasn’t playing at all but the banjo part was still being heard.
Good luck to Al on the Grammys tonight. Is he supposed to perform on the show?

No, he's not performing. And the categories he's nominated for aren't even televised. By the time the Grammy show starts, Al will already have congratulated the winner in his categories (even he doesn't expect to win), and he & the family will just be audience members at the show tonight.

Is the pre-television part of the Grammy's shown online? Would Al be on that?
