QUOTE So, we're an odd bunch...

I noticed. ;) :)

QUOTE Actually, yes it does and not just Al. I'm weird about that across the board. There are a lot of different kinds of names out there, and each one deserves the respect of correct pronounciation.

Well sure, it's a little irritating (One of my pet peeves is that so many people pronounce Celeborn as "Seleborn" instead of "Keleborn"), and I don't mean to be critical or anything, so, my apologies if it came across that way, I'm just a little surprised at some peoples' reaction to...mispronunciation. And I agree with you that names do deserve proper pronunciation, but you can hardly get angry with someone when they initialy mispronounce a name. What gets me is when people continue to mispronounce names after being corrected, that's when I start to get irritated.

QUOTE I am of Polish descent so my maiden name is one of those unpronouncable ones. It really didn't irritate me when uninformed others did not say it coorectly, but it DOES bother me that my own siblings take an easy way out and do not pronounce it exactly as it should be.

Well, there ya go, just what I was saying. You can't really blame an "offender" if they don't know how to properly pronounce a name, but after they're corrected...well, then you have the right to thwack them with a pillow.

I think its very annoying to hear ppl mispronounce Al's name. But sometimes I let it slip, as in don't turn around and yell at them, because they are people who've seen his name said that way on cameos. Will 'YankovicH' ever cease? :satisfied: -Zach

Yeah, I know about the Celeborn thing, but I didn't even know until you look in the back of the books and it points out the different pronounciations.

On the continuing mispronounciations, I've felt that an entire year by my homeroom teacher who continued never to listen to when I corrected him on my last name.

I will add my name to the list of those who don't like when Al's last name is mispronounced, or even misspelled. Sorry, but it does bother me, and I will correct people.

Patti

who also finds it irritating when people misspell my first name. I've been reading some threads in an alumni group I'm in, and someone spelled it P-a-t-t-y. Grrrr! Patti with an "i", please!

Ah, don't worry, Patti, but almost an entire year, my old Desktop Publishing/Multimedia teacher kept spelling my name Cyndi.

Cyndi, huh? That's unusual. Not the most common way to spell it, is it? I knew a girl in high school who spelled it that way. I think she liked Cyndi Lauper. It's really bad when people ask me to spell my last name if I'm talking on the phone. *It's Brown, btw*. I just say "Brown, like the color" now, so I don't have to hear that stupid question.

QUOTE I saw an Alapalooza poster on Ebay, and the description said \"WEIRD AL YANKOVICH ALAPALOOZA POSTER!!!\", and then it showed a picture of it and it clearly said \"YANKOVIC\"...

Yea, I remember linking to that on EBay, :) Oh well, some fans think they're hard-core Al fans and then do something like that. *Sigh*

Oh well. :)

Also, on ebay, if you search for "weird al yankovic", it'll say "Did you mean 'weird al yankovich'?" It makes me so mad!

One of my RAs in college was Sindee. Isn't that too precious? :sarcasm:
