I believe it was played in either NZ or one of the Aussie shows on this tour.

I've decided I really do prefer concerts where I can SIT DOWN. On the positive side, the glimpses I could get of Al between the swaying six-footers in front of me were really good glimpses. I loved getting to hear WDTAHTM live... it really sounded good live, and Al's interpretation was very moving... moving us to laughter. But then I always love Balladeer Al, and we don't see that side of him as often as the more up-tempo version. To make it even better, I was standing near a mother & daughter who had clearly never heard it before. Is there anything better than seeing that look of gaping incredulity on a face, followed by the busting-up part? If Al's going to use that spot in the show to rotate originals through... what could be better? :Y

And there was a meet & greet out by the bus. :)

Was there any kind of big intro??

Like "We're gonna do something different by taking a request from the audience!!" or "We're gonna do a different song in this part of the show!"

or was it just like "This song is called "WDTAHTM??"....

Just Wondering

Standing up the whole time did a number on my back. X* Hopefully there won't be any more of that this tour. The place was packed though and the crowd was really into it. It was the exact same setlist as last night, except the surprise WDTAHTM instead of "Bob."

Again, they made a big deal about no pictures, though it was a little hard for them to police. A lot of people were sneaking pictures on their cell phones, and I even saw a few digital cameras. We were standing with our backs to a "walkway" and security kept walking by frequently, so I never even bothered taking out my camera. We weren't really standing in a great location for shooting pictures anyway. At least we got our memories.

After show, we met up with Bermuda and Al in the theater. They were in the process of shuffling Al out to the bus to do autographs, so he said he'd see us there. At the bus, I got a great autograph (you'll see!) and a picture. :D

Ran into a couple people from the forum tonight (besides those I hung out with all evening of course), so a shout out to Yankovic Farley and Alinite27, and also, unexpectedly, someone I know from MySpace. :w

Yeah, yeah, review, pictures. I have a little time to work on them before heading out to AC later today.

Dave

edit: No into for WDTAHTM. They just went straight into it after CBNC.

Well for the first time ever I avoided reading the setlist before seeing a show. (I guess seeing a show so early in the tour helped :P ) This was, BY FAR, my favorite Al show ever. The memories made tonight are overwhelming and almost outnumber all the ones I've made in my first 14 shows. Here they are, out of order:

My girlfriend and I were dead front and center. We got there 2 hours early and I'm glad we did. Al was literally in our faces all night, to the point where his spit and sweat were landing on us.

He actually held the mic directly to my mouth for Yoda before they broke into the chant!! I apologize if my singing was horrendous. I never expected that!!

He also zoomed right in on me and put his head right up to mine during Albequerque during the "haven't had a bite in three whole days" verse.

I had my Ak & Zuie shirt on and caught Steve's attention with it and we both got quite a few smiles from him all night. At the "pens in my pocket..." line in W&N, he pulled one of his pens out of his pocket protector and threw it to me.

Al sang three different lines of WBUL to my lady. :D

I know I'm forgetting something else that was incredible and could have only happened in a non-seated venue as well.

After meeting Al several times after shows, I finally got a picture with him tonight and thanked him for the opportunity to "contribute" to the show.

We met Alnite27 and his awesome mom at the show. He's a great guy and his mom is just incredible. He's a lucky guy and it was nice to meet them. I'm sorry we rushed out of there after the meet & greet at the bus and didn't get a chance to say goodbye.

I realize that maybe some people could be upset with the setlist, but the energy and length of this show are unsurpassed by any Al tour to date IMO. The crowd was amazing. I really thought general admission would be a nightmare but the crowd was incredibly well behaved and even though standing that long is VERY difficult, I think it really adds to a show.

The staff at this theater were just amazing. Nobody was rushed out the door and lied to. They were honest with people and told them Al would be out back meeting people. There have been times in the past when security outright lied and said he left already and is doing interviews and GET OUT.

I wish I could make it to A.C. tomorrow and the Meadowlands on Sunday but those shows aren't in the cards for me. We'll be at PNC and I definitely think we're gonna add at least 2 or 3 more after the night we just had.

+1 X*

Show was great! I am way too tired to form any coherent thoughts about the show, but I will say that I love the setlist... I also took zero pictures, since a security guy specifically pointed out to me directly before the show that it wouldn't be tolerated. Hopefully there will be no such warnings tomorrow in AC.

I am so so so glad we have seats for tonight...my back's OK, but my feet are tired!

We were in a bad spots for photos of things other than the backs of heads...plus the girl behind us was sort of causing an uproa the entire show making security a frequent visitor to our general location. The show was GREAT though....and the staff at the theater great, as mentioned. As we left the theater a Security guy actually followed us to point out where the bus was for the post show!

..and I need to go get ready for work. See ya in AC!
