That is great! I'm glad she finally got out. :)

Great to hear that they got to her! :bigups:

Thanks for the update, Dr Dad, and have to agree with everything you said. Glad to hear that the family is holding up well.

Yep, it's true. Karen/LadyKatia called me too earlier this evening [she later found the cell phone number I gave her for me], and told me the good news herself as well. She is indeed safe and sound in Baton Rouge -- a city that thanks to the influx of New Orleanians has now DOUBLED in size. She told me she may have internet access soon and may give us a personal report later. We spoke on the phone a good 5 minutes. When we finished, she said, "You know, when we finally get through all this and the dust settles, we should get together for a beer ... or maybe several." I said, "You know, I'm not normally a drinker ... but then, these aren't normal times, are they?"

The sight of National Guardsmen kicking butt and taking names was heartening. Most of those poor poor folks at the Superdome have finally been extracted from that abysmal situation, and now they search the other houses in the area for survivors and bodies. They finally have a jail for looters. If I ever met that National Guard general who helped mobilize everything these last 24 hours, I swear I'll kiss him square on the lips.

We may be able to return between Monday Sept 5 and Wednesday Sept 7 to check on our property, but we'll have to wait and see. If that happens, I will probably be AFK for quite a while, as there's no way of knowing the traffic patterns or how long I willl be gone. If I can go, I will post again to let you all know I'll be leaving and how long I may be gone.

As I sign off, I leave you with THIS LINK from New Orleans author Anne Rice, who beautifully tells the tale of our city and explains why, as some have asked, people in New Orleans would be "stupid enough to build a city below sea level".

Life crawls along.

I would imagine that, for you, it would be a while before it becomes "normal times" again. Hang in there, Doc (and all the others who evacuated New Orleans).

I am glad to hear that you and your family are safe, Dr. Dad, and that LadyKatia is safe and sound as well.

On a personal note, I've heard through the grapevine that I might have rubbed some people here the wrong way. My presence was never intended to be anything but an extravadanza, and if my being here is causing it to be any less of an extravadanza for some folks, then maybe it's time for Tony to go back on hiatus. I might return one day, if some danzification is needed, and/or when the new ALbum is released.

Until we meet again, AY-OH, OH-AY, stay classy, WOWAY!

Hey! Good to see you, though I haven't ever talked to you.

Whew! Glad to read that Lady Katia has been rescued by some NationAL Guardsmen :) Thanks for the updates, Dr. Dad/Jim.

Really? I'm not part of the grapevine. Sorry to read that people have been less than kind. (Consider the source and don't let it bother you.)
