yeah, you know, led zeppelin, they did this little known song called stairway to heaven, whole lotta love is just a great song to turn your guitar up full volume and go nuts. i hope next time i go see al, if there is a next time on this tour, he'll sing it, but we'll see what happens. like i've said, i personally would love to hear a beatles song
I was elected to lead, not to read.

hi all. i just wanted to comment how incredibly cool i think it is that the guys are doing this whole new-song-per-show thing.
now, i know they're not actually choosing a brand new song for every single concert, but they have added some variety, and that's something particularly difficult for a large, already-planned out performance to incorporate. since i saw the barenaked ladies do an improvised song AND a medley of other artists' works, i've thought about just how much more exciting it makes the experience for the audience. (particularly if you're someone who has seen numerous identical shows, like i do for al.)
of course, this also adds a bit of variety for the guys; as an actor, i know from experience that after a good number of performances, it's sometimes difficult to keep the material fresh and energized. this seems like a fun boost -- and chance to play something they wouldn't normally get to -- for al and jim and steve and jon. and even ruben.
for some reason i always picture the guys all sitting around on the tour bus when there's nothing good on the big-screen tv talking about songs they should play or gags they should throw in when they have the time. it's neat that they actually took the initiative and actually forced the change through.
so, while the concerts are rockin' and amazing and i LOVE them no matter what, i'm all in favor of these added snippets.
just another way we all get to see how far above most bands their talent lies.
impressed, as always,
whitney

Well said, Whitney. Al and TBITB certainly have the chops to pull this off. I can't wait to hear what they'll play before OMM at Meadowbrook! I'm sure whatever it is, it'll blow me away! Keep on rockin', guys!

4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!
