Yeah, Living With A Hernia, was timely this summer, when I had to have Hernia surgery. The song got me through it, though, so I have to think Al. I couldn't see that being a song on the tour this time, though. However, I was surprised to see Melanie...so what do I know?

I'd love to hear WBUL, but Melanie or LWAH would both be cool to hear too

On my wishlist for the upcoming tour: moderate and judicious use of the fog machine so that you can actually SEE THE BAND most of the time.

Sorry about the shouting. That effect was just kinda overused on the PH tour.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Especially the last half. <_<

Three things on my wish list, not necessarily in this order:

1) Make sure the back-lighting doesn't shoot directly into the audience. It messes with my camera making what should have been killer photos nearly unrecognizable.

2) How about spot lighting the band a little?

3) Oregon, Al. Oregon.

I like the spotlight idea!

More into the audience stuff!

Does anyone know when there will be a new Weird Al concert? And if there will be one soon where it will be?

Any info, when announced, will first come either from the Mothership (weirdal.com), or Al's MySpace page. It'll probably be a while, I think, before we start seeing definite dates.

That's for official news. But you may find that some of the fans are quicker to find and report concert dates. And of course, all the confirmed information will be right here in the Mighty Tourography Topic.

Being a lighting tech myself, I can tell you right off the bat- that would be nearly impossible to avoid. The whole point of backlight is to point instruments (lights) toward the performer's upstage side to give them shape and form. They may be able to lessen the effect, but it would give the venue a very 'flat' appearance.

Unfortunately, to counteract the problem and take decent photos during the harsh backlighting, one needs a good camera and knowledge of more advanced photography techniques. One thing you can do is point the camera at the base of the stage (mostly legs and feet, not towards the lights), press the shutter halfway down, then without releasing, move the camera back up to the desired composition, and press down the shutter. That way the camera exposes for the people on the stage and not the lights behind them. The only tricky part is making sure it still focuses on their legs, and not the front of the stage.
