Hold on. Why is Fall Out Boy covering a song about gang violence?

I mean, really?

XP Oddly enough, I heard this cover for the first time in the supermarket today, and I come here and everyones talking about it... bizarre!

... I found the style rather... annoying... but I know Al can make very annoying things and make them awesome, so who knows!!!

Just so long as he doesn't replace Yoda! <_<

I don't think he's going to replace Yoda for a LONG time...

I don't mind the FOB version of Beat It. I like it. It's one of the only good songs that play in P.E.

Don't know how that'd work, but I'm sure Al could work it out.
Personally I'd be happy with anything Coldplay - I'm sure Al could come up with something. VLV seems the most likely one though since it is the more well known one.

It is?

Hmm. I hear Violet Hill all the time, so eh. I just prefer that one, but either way it'd be good. I like both songs.

It's not a good version at all. At all. Sadly, I'd bet most of Fall Out Boy's audience would hear MJ's version and be like, "This version sucks compared to FOB's."

Well, VLV *did* hit #1 in both the US and the UK, and was in the top 10 in most Western countries... VH is still fairly well known due to its early release online though.

I've just bricked my MP3 player =/

Let's talk about artists that are prime for style parody treatment on this album. I'm thinking he usually does at least one that is a MAJOR rock artist (Rage, Beck, NIN, Nirvana, etc going backwards). Also one that is a personal favorite band of Al's (Cake, Ben Folds, ska, They Might Be Giants, etc).

Who do you think would be a good target for this album?

Radiohead, Linkin Park (i hope not), any others?

I'd really love to see a style parody of Gnarls Barkley or Blues Traveler. I don't know how likely either of those are, but they'd be nice.

Also, I'm still waiting for Al to do an ORIGINAL rap song. Unfortunately, I think "I'll Sue Ya" is as close as we're ever gonna get.

I'll Sue Ya is a rap song??? Ugh, I'm not a genre buff as well as all-around American musical style cuisinart, but let me disagree...
