Now that we have a signing location, we can really plan something. I'd love to meet up with some of you prior to the signing. Anyone with a 5.1 stereo want to host a listening party?

I think the listening parties Al has are private.

I'll probably be staying at a motel on top of the grapevine, and since the Virgin Megastore is in the middle of downtown, I'm sure there will be things to do to kill the time.

1) There is paid parking underneath the shopping center structure, but be sure to keep your parking stub. I lost mine in all the fun and ended up having to pay for a full day of parking ($20!).

2) Street parking is available, but not easy to find.

3) Bring your walking (or comfortable) shoes. You'll probably be on your feet for quite some time.

4) Just look for a long line. The sooner you get there, the sooner you can get through the line. IIRC, the wait was about 1 1/2-2 hours, but it's difficult to say exactly with the new exposure in MySpace.

5) Last time they said "absolutely no cameras", but I brought mine anyways and they later decided you could take pictures (as long as you didn't hold up the line).

6) Grauman's Chinese Theater is nearby if you feel like being a tourist. People can also gather in the plaza there

7) The store: http://www.virginmegamagazine.com/default.asp?vms=25
The Hollywood & Highland center http://www.hollywoodandhighland.com/din ... urants.php
Wolfgang Puck's restaurant luncheon menu - prices range from about $6-15 dollars, but you probably won't find much cheaper in the area. Also, they used to have an outdoor dining area. http://www.wolfgangpuck.com/rest/menu.php?id=114

8) Traffic will probably be a mess, so plan on extra time, and drive safely. My sister and I almost had a bad accident at that intersection.

The parking is really easy and close. Virgin will probably even validate your parking so it'd be free, but maybe not if you aren't making a purchase.
The Hollywood & Highland center is really big and really fun to hang out in. Should be a good time.

I'll probably head over there right when the store opens (anyone know when that is?) to scope the place out and pick up my copy of Straight Outta Lynwood, and then I'll probably hang out around Hollywood for the day and head back to the Megastore at about 4:30 or 5. From there, I'll wait in what will probably already be a pretty substancial line.

I'll set my camera to burst. That way, at least 2 out of the 260 pictures it takes will turn out well :P

I'm going to take the day off work. I've yet to visit Hollywood so maybe I'll do a few touristy things to pass the time but I don't know how much fun that will be alone. :( If any one else is planning on doing the same, let's hook up and hang out for the day.

Its website says it opens at 10 AM. I hope I can get there early enough myself.

Thanks. They better not be sold out. I'd be pissed.

Uh, won't we all be making a purchase... of the same title?

I'm probably going to get the album earlier in the day and then check it out for a while rather than hang around with the CD in my hand and not doing a thing with it for the entire evening!
