Somebody wished my father a happy Hanukkah (based on the above principle), even though my family is not Jewish.

Ok, well, thanks, Jeremy. I'm sad to say I don't know a lot of Allan Sherman's songs. But, you do make a point by posting those lyrics.

So, anyway, that Al guy. Hes great, isn't he? I like on the WAY Live video, when he's whipping his hair around at the beginning of that song.

No. It's not. Technically, it's considered a Hebrew name, but not a Jewish name. Hebrew is a language. Judaism is a religion. Two very different things. "David ben Gurion" is simply Hebrew for "David, son of Gurion." But even then, it's the Hebrew form of the name, just as Miguel is the Spanish form of Michael.

But no, there ARE NO "Jewish" names, just as there are no Catholic or Muslim names. There are English, Roman, even Arabic names. But those are nationalities, not religions.

If memory serves-- "Aaron" is hebrew for Mountain. Thats all I know about the name.

but I don't know what posessed my parents to name me Aron. We're not religious at all, so I can only wonder.

Aron (spelled with 1 A) is notable because it's Elvis Presley's middle name.
