There needed (needs) to be a second single. One song is not going to make people go out and buy the cd, especially when you can just download "W&N" for 99 cents. Even if 10 downloads of "W&N" equal one album sale, that's still a lot of lost sales. Even though Al has had a great career, this album holds the trend of lots of one hit wonder bands.
I don't think it's really fair to say that this album is like those of one-hit wonder bands. After all, "Canadian Idiot" also made the Billboard Charts. Plus, Al's popularity has been increased as an all-around artists. It seems to me that a lot of people are discovering his earlier music as well. eBay's appearance in the "Bubbling Under" charts seems to be evidence of that.

I think the tour will help. Lots of people go to Weird Al concerts a bit on random, maybe they only heard W&N or were fans in the 80s. And then when they hear the great songs, the new album is conveniently sold, right there. That should help sales.

Well, at least SOL stayed in the top 100 for quite a while, which is impressive.

It's sad that SOL fell out the Top 100, but it had quite an impressive run. "White and Nerdy" is still doing pretty well, which is encouraging.

SOL is at #105 on the "Billboard 200" this week.
Also, for those of you keeping score at home, W&N has sold 687,108 downloads so far.

Where did you get the Billboard position from? Your local book store?
Does that figure qualify White & Nerdy for a GOLD record for iTunes sales or not yet?

There's a chart forum on the UKMix.org web site in which people with paid Billboard.com accounts post complete versions of some of the major charts.
Does that figure qualify White & Nerdy for a GOLD record for iTunes sales or not yet?
Well, I think I've pointed this out before, but according to "Billboard's" web site, a single can be certified Gold with only 100,000 paid downloads and Platinum with 200,000 paid downloads...so it looks as if Al will have much rejoicing to do very soon.

W&N is down to #59 this week. So far the song has sold 714,843 paid downloads.
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to find out SOL's chart position.

At least W&N still seems relatively safe in the Top 100. I sure hope it stays there for a while longer.
